I love this. How many other times do we Francis fangirls get to see him with his shirt off?
Me:*Staring*
Francis:*thinking* What the hell is she staring at?
Me:*after reading his mind* You,stupid. You look GOOD!
Francis:*thinking* Ugh! Here we go again. *mental groan*
Me:Get used to it,baby. I'm stickin' around whether you want it or not.
Francis:*rolls his eyes*
Me:*keeps on staring at his shirtless hotness.*

i gotta say, this is the greatest piece of Francis fanart since [link] . the colors are spot on, the textures are amazing, and the overall piee itself would make the creator of TSS smile like a chesire cat. also, you have inspired me to draw a futuristic prison chamber, and once i have drawn that, i'll get back to you.
but i gotta say, what surprises me most in this pic is that i can really see his eyes. and for some reason, he looks sad to me. angry even.

I can't wait to see the prison chamber. :3 It sounds really exciting.
Now, forgive me as I geek out about the eyes! Or just about Francis in general.
The show seemed to imply that Francis' people were kind of like genetically manufactured slaves, what with being chipped, and reprimanded for thinking, and made to work dangerous assignments as children (and starting training who knows how much earlier than the ten year old mark). They probably have no rights, especially if they were produced on the Space Base, and with the spending power his people seem to have, it's not a job you can just quit. Not that Francis would necessarily want to even if he could, because, well, piloting giant robots, controlling swarms of atmospheric jelly fish, and handling sonic blasters is like every ten year old boys dream. Still, at the end of the day, he's not anybody couple's lovingly procreated child or even someone's most carefully nurtured mistake. He's not special. His day to day triumphs aren't greeted with glee by the scientists around him like they would be by parents. When he succeeds it's because he had everything going from him from his chromosomes to his tech and training. When he fails to meet up to the previous models record it's because he's faulty or not trying, and they have the numbers to prove it. So, while the show ended on a good note for Zak overcoming his predestination woes, Francis' scientifically planted shackles are still firmly in place, and he probably resents the hell out of the people that put them there, especially as he enters the teenager stage of his life. Epsilon, I'm figuring, raged against the machine for a while when he was younger, got tired, and accepted his fate with a bit of dark humor and passive aggressive commentary.
Whoo. Sorry, I'm such fangirl. *squirms* Thanks for commenting.

You know what would be scary as hell? If they had an accelerated aging thing like the clones in Star Wars and they were like, years ahead of where they should be developmentally. And, oh god, I just started geeking out with the two main reasons I have a thing for clones right now.

Heee! I thought about the clone wars scenario too. Though it makes you wonder why Epsilon was gone for ten years if Francis would age at an accelerated rate. Hmm...

Maybe he had a Boba Fett thing going for him and he was the only one who aged normally. Oh God, geeking out again.

To be honest, I'm writing a songfic where this actually kinda fits in, not the art really, but that comment at least. It's kind of a breaking free thing to the one song I can find that fits his personality.

I'm about half done with it and bored as hell. I just figured out Francis' theme song now: Numb by Linkin Park. It especially works if you read my story and see how I believe Francis secretly thinks.

Thank you. I only did about 3 drafts with the lines, first one super loose, second one loose but with more guiding lines for the mouth and eyes, and then the layer you're looking at right now. :3

Pah on it being awful, it's lovely! I love how he seems so unfazed by his situation. His expression says "Yes, I am aware I am being suspended in viscous fluids and having untold nanorobots fiddle with my innermost chromosomes. Your point being...?" So perfect for him. :3

Well, Francis hates theatrics (or so he says), so I'm sure he's practicing his cool nonchalant-ness. "This? Oh, -you- wouldn't know about it. It's nothing special though."

LEEE THIS IS REALLY GOOD
I have been away from dA for a long time, so I haven't had a chance to see a lot of your new art, but this is fantastic! I love how clean the lineart is! SO PRETTY. And your use of the bubbles with the layers is very good, and the cool color scheme justr flows so well together--you really made it look like he was floatin' in a tank!
Which I guessis sort of the point. But. Well. At any rate, POINT TAKEN
and the textures here are splendid. EXCELLENT WORK, LEE!
