 STEP ONE
Make a post to your DA journal. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a ______ icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("all I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV."). The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your DA or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

 STEP TWO
Surf around your friends list (or friends' friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use -- do it.

You need not spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf -- to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not -- it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Give, and you might receive. and you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My Wishlist:

  • Art of any of my OCs Phoenix , Dragon , Lira
  • Any art, I love art to pieces (and will love you forever if you make art for me).
  • Suggestions for Monday Muses and/or people granting wishes at dAWishingWell
  • Photoshop CS5 or CS6. I've been working with Elements 9 since forever, and my few tries with CS2 I had access to thanks to a good friend made me realize what amazing additional features I was missing out on. But as always, broke student is broke.
  • People helping deviants in need, like betwixtthepages , who is currently Bartering Books to get a little extra cash. But there's a lot more people in need out there, and not only on dA. Do something nice for someone else, be it on or off dA.
  • Shakespeare's "Coriolanus", "Cymbeline", "All's Well That Ends Well", "Timon of Athens" and "Measure for Measure". I absolutely don't mind old, worn copies of them. (note me for address)
  • Give someone a hug. If you're not someone who just hugs people, compliment someone. Then compliment yourself, for being awesome. (note: you can do this in "real life" or on dA or both )
  • The Japanese editions of Haruki Murakami's "Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman" (めくらやなぎと眠る女) and "After the Quake" (神の子どもたちはみな踊る) short story collections (again, note me for address)
  • Book recommendations. I've been so lost in Shakespeare and literature from the late 19th/early 20th century for the past few years that I have no idea where to even start with "modern" English literature (i.e. for me anything after 1990).
  • Treat yourself to something nice this Christmas.

Thanks for tagging me! This seems like a sweet idea.

Oh! If you want Photoshop CS6, here's a link to download it . (Though I think it's in English.)

Oh, this is such a nice idea! Your wishlist is lovely.

I saw a copy of Coriolanus a few weeks ago in a charity shop... wish I'd bought it so I could send it to you! Do you specifically need physical books? If not (and you own or have access to an ereader), I know Coriolanus is freely available as an ebook at Project Gutenberg (www.gutenberg.org/) (not sure about the others though).

And I do love giving book recs! It's probably just me being silly, but by "older than 2000", what do you mean? Like, books published in the 90s-ish?

Aw drats. I don't have an ereader, unfortunately. :/

Oh, oh no, I don't think I was even thinking when I wrote that, what I meant was anything written after the 90s.

    Aww.

I will keep an eye out though! I don't often look for Shakespeare's work, but I know I've seen them... I'm just not sure it's the titles you've specified, but we'll see.

Haha, oh, I see! In that case:

The Road (Cormac McCarthy) - I might have recommended this one before, but McCarthy's prose is amazing in this book, and not something I'd come across before when I first read it. It's really bare and simple, but the story is still so powerful.

The Girl with All the Gifts (M. R. Carey) - I read this pretty recently and loved it. It wasn't what I was expecting at all (not sure if I should warn you about what the book is about in case you don't like that sort of story, so note me if you like! I personally loved it more for not knowing exactly what it was going to be about).

The Night Circus (Erin Morgenstern) - I'm still not entirely sure whether I like this book that much. It's beautifully descriptive (so highly recommended if you like that sort of thing) but I did find it quite slow, story-wise. But honestly, the descriptions are gorgeous and so evocative.

The Chaos Walking series (Patrick Ness) - The writing style shocked me at first, but, my goodness, I fell in love with his characters. IN LOVE. His books will crush you will all the feels.

Water for Elephants (Sara Gruen) - The story is beautifully told, with fantastic characters. The movie is quite flat and dull, so I'm glad I read the book first because I might have been put off otherwise!

These are the first few books that come to mind, but I'm more than happy to give more if you like!

    That's ok, thanks Steph.

Ooh, they all sound very interesting! I only heard of "The Night Circus" and "Water for Elephants" (didn't see the movie), but I'll be sure to check all of them out. Thanks so much for these recommendations!

Oh wow! That's a great idea! I love this!
Okay, so I'm not sure what I can do about the art wish because before Christmas it's always really busy and I still need to get a few pieces done but I'll try!

Buchempfehlungen: Eines meiner absoluten Lieblingsbücher der letzten Jahre war The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.

    Aw, that's ok.

Ok, dann versuch ichs einfach mal.

    Ja also... anscheinend verkraftet mein PC CS2 nicht so wirklich gut, es ist mir bis jetzt jedes mal abgestürzt ;_;
