Thank you very much. I'm glad you like it. ^.^ Warm organe/yellow always goes sooooo well with purple as a shadow coulour I couldn't resist to use it here.

Hey there ^.^/,
I think it's awesome you actually checked Hoai Baciu out after seeing my painting. Those trees there are so fascinating with all their structures and gnarly shapes. So I'm glad you have seen those pictures too now.
And thank you very much for your compliment.

Thank you~! I'm glad I darkened the shadows a bit in the end. That made the light shine much warmer and added to the mood.

Ah, my bad.
There is something very much in the way of classic LotR illustration about your work, and Legolas and his sort were quite fond of oaks and beeches - much like the kind you rendered so lovingly here.

Oooooh , oh thank you so much. Being mentioned in one breath/ sentence/ thought with LotR-art is a great honour. Especially since I like the presentation of the Tolkien Elves so much. ... so I should have known that with the oaks. I'm sorry. It seems, my brain suffered a critical "no-more-cookie-error".

Most welcome. T'is well earned - and I got to thank you in turn. I got a bit uncertain so went back and double checked, and indeed it turned out I remembered the order wrong: When Legolas reminisces the oaks are a separate story, and the beeches paired with elms. No wonder the quote made no sense when it was no quote.
But details aside, the spirit is certainly there. For anybody familiar with the character, whether it be Tove Jansson, Inger Edelfeldt, Liz Danforth, John Howe, Alan Lee or any of his post-Jackson incarnations, it is probably impossible seeing this imagery without Thranduil coming to mind.
