Hey Rick

I'm Karen, and I'm one of the Contributors at #Skill-Up where you have posted this Portrait to be Critiqued, and to Skill Up as it is!

I'll start by saying you have done a really good job. Ive had a quick look through your gallery and you do a mix of Animee (as such) and Realism which turns out really good.

Number One thing that I would say is try not to ever leave a picture half cut off like this. Either finish the whole head, or make a border around it (great for when your reference is cut off too).

With the Hair (my own area of evilness) I get that its Asian hair, so its all black, but try showing a little more depth to it. Just because hair is black in color doesn't mean that it actually shows as a black clomp when you look at it. Try adding in some highlights to start with, so the the shine on the hair. Also add a little shape to it by creating the hair with individual strands (It doesn't have to be tiny tiny strands though) It gives it a little more life.

You've brought out the blending the face really well. You've said that your using a blending stump. I would suggest blending a little bit more to get that smoother texture that's more skin like. What kind of technique do you use? I personally use the feathering tech. where you blend round and round in circle to blend out the pencil. I like it because it gives great control on how dark you go, and also on texture. But it not for everyone.

Eyebrows are great, and you've done well with the eyes. Black eyes are hard to do. id prob suggest maybe a little bit more shine to them to make them more natural looking, once again there are different tones of black you can subtlety change to make the black look more real. other wise you've done really good with Asian eyes. I haven't attempted before but I'm guessing Id prob have issues with them myself, so good work!

ah sorry if i got that wrong >_<" i could see that you're fluent in english but i'm trying to get into the habit of making posts in native languages, because a fair bit of people on DA with great stuff aren't from english speaking countries unfortunately even when i double check google against other online translators it still doesn't always work out
