Description After almost two years to wish to meet a big male moose (Alces alces), I have been rewarded yesterday with a close encounter.

That moose was not that scared and after few stares, came back to eat boughs.

You have to keep an eye at all time and find a way out or a close tree and be ready to leave your camera , ... because it already happened to some friends to be charged, especially with males during the rut season (september to october) or females with fawns.

One moment it came toward me, but I could understand its intention was just to move to go to another fir. It can be good to watch the position of the ears : if they are lain toward the back of the animal, please run out !

However, This animal could have had some anger toward Humans... This buck had been shot and wounded many times : check its nose and one of its antlers ! It had a wound on the body as well, but it didn't seem to be so affected by the situation, hope everything will be ok to survive the coming winter.

We can just wish him good luck !

If you wnat to see how this big buck could look at 2 months old : [link]

Beautiful bull moose. I had an encounter with a cow and her twin calves (I got between her and them...don't ever do that!!!) in Alaska. Not once have I ever seen murder in an animal's eyes, but I did with that cow! I did not intend to get between her and her babies...I just wanted to get a picture of her! Thank God I'm still alive...had I stuck around for much longer...I would have been stomped and trampled lol.

Wonderful shot. I really hope to see a moose one day. Poor thing with all those injuries I hope it makes it through the winter.
