"Sara?" Tommy asked from the toy corner, looking up at her.

"Yes, sweetie?" Sara asked with a smile. She loved Tommy. Well, she loved all of the children. They had all gotten lost in the terrifying cold of Ragicel, so she was there to give them a helping hand. She was their mother now, she took great care of them.

"Sara, where's my mommy?" Tommy asked. Sara went stone silent.

"What did you say, Tommy?" Sara asked sharply. None of the other children had ever asked about their real parents before. Most of them were still thrilled with all that Sara had to offer in her house: Toys as far as the eye could see, good food, cookies whenever you wanted them. Not Tommy, though.

"Where's my mommy, Sara?" Tommy asked again. "I miss her. Where's Mommy?" Sara's whole body went rigid.

"Tommy, your mommy's not here anymore." Tommy started to cry.

"I miss my mommy! I want her!"

All the children around Tommy started to stare at him, then sheepishly turned back to their toys.

"Tommy, we can't all have what we want," Sara said, each syllable getting sharper. "Your mommy isn't here anymore. She doesn't care about you. You need to forget about her."

"MOMMY!" Tommy shrieked, and Sara strode over to where he was sitting, tightly grabbed his wrist, and pulled him up to standing. She then bent down and looked straight into his eyes.

"Tommy. You need to get a hold of yourself," Sara's voice was so loud, she was practically shouting at the little boy. "Forget about your mommy. Forget about your daddy. They are gone."

She let go of him, and he crumpled onto the floor, and started silently weeping. Sara stood up and smiled-- Too wide to be sincere.

"Sara loves you, Tommy. I'm your mommy now."
