At first I thought I would just make electabuzz like a gorilla, but then I decided forget about using a reference and free hand it like I did with the last few pokemon. That seems to be working out for me.Don't ask me what the antennae are for. I left them cause they're funny.
Electabuzz are known to climb to high places during thunderstorms in hopes of being struck by lightning, an experience they apparently enjoy.

Maybe those antennae possess high concentrations of iron, which draws the lightning they so enjoy to them.

I think it would be interesting to be struck by lightning... if Electabuzz were real, like this one, I think I'd get along well with them.

They use their antennae to shoot electricity. It was in the anime, I recall.

So furry! This version of electabuzz looks almost huggable. Kind of like a Wild Thing.
Maybe they can get high off of lightning, like Bender?

I really love you recent designs, seeing you leave out a lot of the reference but I think using a little bit more couldn't hurt, a lot of these are starting to look like simply glorified versions of the original pokemon, not realistic version, when you went with the fish inspiration on the gastly evolutions, it was impressive accurate and really cool. On the same note I look back to some of your first few and I think that your charizard was was too referenced, I think that the balance you had with using references while keeping them looking unnatural as far as a separate species goes was right where it was at, I would like to see you do some of the first few again just to see some creativity in them.

I will probably take a break for a while after finishing the first generation, but I'll more than likely be redoing some of them or even posting rough sketches and alternate interpretations.
But to be honest, I'm really looking forward to drawing something other than pokemon.

I feel that, but what better way to hone some skills than drawing something thats both the same but different over and over again, I see a lot of progress on your style and talents through something as simple as remaking pokemon.
