Unsual, but plausible. I suppose to keep herself standing, the gravity of her homeplanet must be lower an so her planet must be in size smaller than earth.

I don't know why, but I like everything about this illustration, and it's one of the rare nonhuminoid alien species that makes it more interesting to me. This is just great stuff.

You know what's insane? I found this in the 'How To Draw Fantasy Females' book. I loved this very much and found her to be very beautiful.

Nice concept, good implementation.
I kind of feel that your description should be added into the image itself...

Your alien is truly alien in the alieness, most aliens people made up are humanoids or at least recognisable to something on Earth.
Awesome work ~rubendevela.

The art itself is beautiful, but I love the explanation you provide. Because I first looked at it and went, okay, how would this biologically evolve? But then the relations between sexes and details about how they communicate? Awesome!

I wanted to ask if I could use this Alien race for my Terminator Salvation/ Breed crossover story.
Of course sadly she will be the last of her kind.
No, we did not kill them off.
An evil alien robotic race wiping out all life in the galaxy humanity has barely survive one assault with all but one ship the Darwin a Battleship left.

interesting, looks like she comes from a lower G type world. .7? .5? also sense the human is wearing a suit, I have to wonder what their native environment is like, or is our biochemistry simply incompatible (a plethora of reasons could cause this)

This is quite creative. From a thematic standpoint, the ability to create something very alien in nature, while still visually giving the visual representation of something human looking (say, a girl - with a 'face' and 'waistline' in surrounded by butterflies) is a nice touch with this. Great colors, design, and the height comparison is a good addition as well.

Wow, the human-like face is actually on its side. That's an interesting approach to symmetry.
The role of the males is intriguing but not too far out to be implausible. Just look at Anglerfish here on Earth. The males of this fish order are puny next to the females and attach to them like parasites in a symbiotic relationship. After making the connection, the male will shed every part of itself down to the gonads leaving the female with steady supply of sperm.
Evolutionary biologists have ample reason to believe that this strategy is due to their populations being so heavily scattered and sparse. Contact between individuals is so rare that males and females have to devise a way to mate for life and the male becoming an extra reproductive organ seems like a good strategy.
I just think it's cool to share a mating style that equally far out compared to what might be encountered in an alien ecosystem.
