Sandstorm dragon is a wonderfully executed piece with a fitting title, color scheme and texture. There are a lot of great elements about this piece, in particular, the pale outline and careful detailing of the dragon. The white lines are placed with skill and confidence and help make the dragon pop out from the sand storm surrounding it. The dragon's head, horns and spines are all exquisitely detailed. There is also the delightfully lively detail of the smoke rising form the dragon's nostrils, which is a marvelous touch that gives it some great life. It is a fantastic piece.
The one thing I would suggest to improve it would be to add some more detail to the left wing. Because it is facing the viewer and obscuring a few parts of the dragon's body, it should stand out a bit more. It is the color of the background, which makes the perspective a little confusing because the lighter color and less detail makes the mind think of it as being visually pushed back a bit, but this is not anatomically possible, which creates a little visual confusion. I do not consider this to be a fatal flaw, however. The coloration of the wings is well done, and my mind doesn't badger me that the perspective is a bit off. If you want to be really nit-picky, you might add a touch more color to the tongue, but the tongue does not bother me as it is.
In conclusion, this is a very well done piece. The use of coffee is really original, the life-like smoke rising from the dragon gives it life in such a way that you almost expect it to fly off and blast a lot of sand all over the place. This is probably one of my favorite pieces that you have done.

these are so beautiful, and I love your pieces.
My question is, if you don't mind answering, do you start with the dragon first, or do the watercolor texture first? I am always stumped by your process
