Nice shot!! What power lens did you use for this? Just curious. I always love checking out the camera settings data on the bottom right of the photos on dA here, but there's none here, so that's why I ask.

Thanks!

I used a Sony 300 mm lens. I bought it in 2008 for $175 I think. Took this photo during winter, my feet were icy after this forest walk.

I was looking after I replied . You have some great shots also. I would like to visit some of the places you shot. It's very hard to find places in Chicago!

Thank you so much for the nice compliment Nick! I have to agree with you that you're limited there in Chicago (at least with nature shots), but it can quite photogenic north of you in Wisconsin. I just moved from Appleton, WI to Spokane, WA about 5 years ago...and most of my shots were all done on slides, since I didn't own a digital camera then. But man I've some killer autumn shots. Someday I'll transfer them over to digital.

There are places around here just none that are close enough to go to within minutes. I like watching the sky close to sunset to see if its going to be good or not and then head to a spot. Need more nature here.

(sorry if you know this already) You can transfer you slides somewhat easily with a scanner that allows it. I converted 40 year old slides this year from my parents. Only pain was dust and scratches on the slides. Cleaned them up in Photoshop.

I already own a dedicated Plustek scanner, but I haven't even used it yet. But I will, that's for sure!

Thanks, glad it was winter and the trees were all bare. Made the bird really pop out.

Yeah! It looks like the background is frozen in time, only the bird is full of life.
