He was my hero since I saw his movies and found about him when I was about three. I still think he is my hero and I cried when I heard what happened to him, rest in peace Steve

The world will be a sadder place without him. I hope that all the thousands of people who mourn him, will think a little more about conserving our planet and wildlife.

He wasn't my favorite person in the world... but I'll miss him yeah. I can't bring myself to hate any sort of animal lover. Reckless or not, he was a nice guy.
At least he got to die doing the thing he loved doing...

I fail to see how a person like Steve could not top someone's favorite list. He had a unique way of presenting and entertaining us that not only increased our knowledge of the animals but made us laugh & cringe at the same time. I give him credit for bringing Australia to me, for increasing my knowledge of wild animals and why they bite. In fact like i said, just the day before he died, i was watching him handle these deadly crocs who were in a head butting fight and he intervened to separate them. While putting the croc in a box for transport to the other penn, the croc almost got a hold of his foot and it could have been a nasty bite. Yet Steve showed dedication in his work and not for a moment blamed the animal. It was his sincerity that won people's hearts. So i cant see why he would not top someone's favorite list in at least one category.

Well... I can't explain why he didn't top my lists. but don't get me wrong, he was a great guy. you know, maybe close to the top. I mean i love animals too, I did watch his show, he did have a good connection with the audience, he did educate me. but there's something about him that kinda... made him not top my list. eh... yeah. can't explain it.

I noticed that but am unsure if the lock was put on after this news or before it as many people cringed at seeing his act. I loved the guy, i thought he was great and brought a australia and our understanding of wild animals to the outside world.

That would be stupid, and would go against everything Steve stood for. If anything, the most i learned from this man is respect for all life even if its a small bug.

Yes RIP Steve. I found out on Digg just as the entry was made. Just last night i was watching animal planet before going to bed and Steve was meddling with deadly snakes and moving a head butting croc out of its penn. The croc almost got a hold of his foot and it could have been deadly. I really loved him for his sincerity and love towards animals and life in journal.
