Kaname Kuran, ancestor.

Inside my strange mind, this is how Kaname looks a lot, it seems. 8D; *lol*
Well, not all the time. XD

The claw marks and other wounds are to represent how much life has hurt him, plus the mess with Rido, the potential mess with the first hunters, and so on.

Please no pervy assumptions, he's merely naked to symbolize his vulnerability to the whole world and how alone and cold he feels.
(Besides, the bandages strategically cover everything in need of covering, so nothing is showing anyway, just legs and arms etc. ;D)

People tend to think "the ancestor!" = "old, powerful, all-knowing".......... Maybe originally he was in the past life, but I don't see it that way at all times.

When you think of chapter 48 of the manga, when he's a little kid and he has that weird deja-vu flash with the headache from the ancestor's memories flashing for a second and him not knowing what it is... Having the ancestor in his body is not some awesome power, it sucks for him. :S

He's just a lost child, pulled from side to side between Rido wanting to use him as a sacrifice to his revenge against Juri & co., the council wanting to use him for his power and who he is/his blood etc., and SO MANY more people desiring him for his blood or power.
He can't be a normal child, it's even worse for him than for other pureblood kids, and according to Juri, Haruka, and Shizuka, it already sucks to be a pureblood kid anyway, much less that. :S

Poor thing, ever since he was small, he was surrounded by people wanting to use him or even devour him. (Even Shizuka came to the school just because she remembered how unguarded and vulnerable he looked as a child, and thought he'd make an easier prey than another pureblood, in her quest to gain power for her revenge. 8D;; )

Being Kaname often sucks. :S

Zero's life sucks colossally too (VK characters have horrid luck ), but at least Zero had 13 years of more or less happiness and family life prior to his life being torn apart.
Kaname only had a few years of peace while Yuuki was small, and even then, it was already with the shadow of what happened to him tearing his life apart. (He was already the ancestor as a little child, though he didn't seem to really have access to the memories.)
(I'm not putting down Zero's problems btw. I love him too. I'm just pointing out that he did have some luck before, which is cool, even though it was also not perfect because of the issue with Ichiru's health etc.)

The image is a wallpaper, btw. I thought I might as well submit it in wallpaper size already.

Kaname is drawn & colored on SAI, and the background is made on PS, with my own custom brushes.
The Kuran crest in the pic is also a brush I made.

Before I drew the pointless bloody mist in the background, you could see the chessboard ground spreading faaar, fading in a crackly way to make it look as if it was coming apart... T_T *shouldn't have added mist*

Why I am drawing this when I have so many other things to do right now?? Ahahaha~~~ *runs off suddenly*
Because my body is made of 75% lazy procrastination and 25% just plain lazy. :S

(And I draw sort of fast + need to draw VK to take breaks so brain goes on working* 8D; )
