Aw, poor Harls! I, too, am annoyed by the goings on in GCS 20. Perhaps they'll redeem themselves in the next couple of issues. However, I'm not holding my breath. ::SIGH::

I hope Dini comes back to write for GCS. He needs to fix the screw ups by other writers, seriously.

Well, it looks like he'll be writing that Arkham City book (which also has Joker and Harley on the cover!). I believe they're ending Streets of Gotham. At least that's what I heard from my comic reviewin' friend. Maybe that will free up some of Dini's time? Of course, without Harley, the Sirens will be a lot less interesting...

Oh yeah, the Arkham City series! That's bound to have some JxH action in. *snicker*
Well, I really am not that interested in Sirens anymore. All they do is sit around in their basement, being completely worthless. They're villains! What's with the "let's be BFF and great heroes!"?
I believe the Sirens will dissolve without Harls, for she is, apparently, the "catalyst" for Ivy and Selina. They cannot get on without her.
That would explain Calloway's attitude to her "making a mistake ending the Sirens forever". I still hate the word "mistake" in it. What's wrong with getting back with your loved one, I'd never know.

I sorta feel like they're bringing GCS to an end anyway. The writing has been pretty terrible lately. Put it out of it's misery!
The "mistake" thing pisses me off too. I think a lot of readers have trouble with the more abusive aspects of the relationship.I mean, he kills people for fun, of course their relationship is going to be screwed up! And it's not as if the abuse is one sided. She's put him in his place more than once. I hate the Harley-is-a-victim BS. People seem to forget that Harley is a villain as well. Yes, she's cute and likable, but she's also as nutso as her lover.

Aye. I only liked the arc with Gaggy and Riddler. And, ironically, I think those were Dini's works.
It just seems that some people expect the Joker to be the boyfriend of the year or something. Of course there won't be that thing with mutual respect and all other relationship things, at least in ways considered normal in society!
She's too loveable for people to realise what is it behind all the sweetyness. That's probably the point of Harls - you just underestimate her!
It's sad that WRITERS don't get it right though. If anyone, they should know better.

BlitheFool In reply to Saltheria [2011-03-16 13:12:07 +0000 UTC]
Exactly! Their relationship is just as flawed as all the rest in the Batverse. I mean, look at Bruce! He's certainly not great boyfriend material. The guys a mess! And he's the frickin' hero.
It is depressing when even the writers can't figure it out! I guess they only see what's on the surface. At least we have some talented fan fiction writers out there. But I really wish DC would get with the program.

Oh heck yes, Bruce! Just how many hearts has he broken? He certainly doesn't deserve a trophy either.
In fact, Harl's and Joker's relationship is surprisingly the most stable one in Batverse. Ups and downs are almost in balance. xD
You read Calloway's interview? "Behind all the abuse by the Joker, she is a sweet person".
Well of course she's sweet, but, guh... I don't recall Mr J ever FORCING her to stay with him.

Well, I think his hate was evident in GCS 20! All this nonsense Harley "thought in her fit of rage".
So random, so out of place.
He better fix this mess in the next issue.
Oh gosh, THOSE series. I used to like those, until I read the classic Harley stories. Which led to a reaction of "What was that I read before again?"

Good point. The motivation to "kill" him is so lacking it makes my head hurt. I could write a better story. And I don't even write!
Ugh. Those stories are just terrible. The art is kinda pretty if you don't mind the HUGE boobs and the random women wearing almost nothing. Harley just doesn't seem to work so well on her own. Her whole reason for being Harley Quinn falls apart without the Joker. Just like Joker falls apart without Batman. They need eachother!

Saltheria In reply to BlitheFool [2011-03-16 14:07:13 +0000 UTC]
Especially when you consider her attitude towards her Mr J in issue 18! She confessed she'd immediately leave the sirens if he called her.
Issue 19-20? Oh gosh, he ruined her life, he is gonna die for all the suffering! Craaaawling in my skiiiin, these wounds, they will not heeeeal!
What's in Calloway's head?
Oh yeah, the art in "Harley Quinn" series was... not the greatest. Cliche females with massive boobs wearing bikini, perfect round faces for everyone, and Harl looked like a bodybuilder. Why? Why did she become so... huge? She's supposed to be a petite agile little thing, not an overgrown athlete.
I like Guillem's art in Sirens because he makes Harley quite cute.
I don't know WHY they keep trying to keep her separate, or why do some 'fans' think she works great as solo. No she does not! Why is it, they are together in almost every crossover and videogame, but not in mainstream?

BlitheFool In reply to Saltheria [2011-03-16 14:20:47 +0000 UTC]
That irked me too. No consistency at all! Does Harley get mad at Joker sometimes? Yes! Absolutely! Does she get mad at him a YEAR later (thanks so much Grant Morrison) when for all intents and purposes she thought he was dead? Uh, no. Like, c'mon. WTF?
And, yes. Harley is a small woman. She's tiny and mighty! Guillem's pretty good at drawing Harley. I still think she looks too big, but I'm sorta picky about these things. I like the art in the Harley Quinn story in Joker's Asylum a lot. I think they captured her small size, and her cute/deadly-ness perfectly.

In Arkham Asylum game character files, when Hugo Strange concluded that Harley is bipolar... If that's the case, that would explain this VERY odd swing of mood and attitude. Otherwise, I still don't get it. So random.
They better properly explain it, for no one bought it.
How tall is Harls, actually? In one places she's told to be 5''3, in others it's most often stated as 5''7. 5''7 is about my height, and I don't consider myself to be tiny. O.o
Oh yes, that story! She was very cute in it. Cute and deadly.
Like Joker himself stated, even the most adorable things can be dangerous. Will you look at that, a confession!

BlitheFool In reply to Saltheria [2011-03-16 15:04:08 +0000 UTC]
I think that's a heck of a mood swing even for a bipolar person! I mean, they're both crazy,so perhaps you could chalk it up to mental instablity, but Harley doesn't generally act out towards Joker unless he's done something terrible right then and there.
I believe the DC Encyclopedia has her at 5'3 or 5'4. I think they just recently decided to just pretend she's taller. I guess the thing about so many different artists drawing these characters is there's a lack of consistancy in their "look". I mean, I've seen so many different versions of Joker and that's just in the last couple of months!

Saltheria In reply to BlitheFool [2011-03-16 15:19:10 +0000 UTC]
Possibly, I never met a bipolar person, although I know what the disorder is like.
I know, right? He hasn't done anything to her since their 'break up', and even then he DIDN'T kill her after all.
And Harley did promise to always love him back then.
If there was one thing Morrisson got, is their relationship, I think. Shame not many can. So frustrating!
I just feel like Joker needs to shove her promise of eternal love in her face to knock some sense back to her. xD
Oh yeah. Well, every artist's vision is different, but there must be a limit to that! You don't just make them basketball players all of a sudden!
That said, I really like Guillem's Joker too. (apart from the one on GCS 20 cover, that was creepy as hell)

BlitheFool In reply to Saltheria [2011-03-16 15:28:29 +0000 UTC]
Oh, I've known a few in my day. They have mood swings for sure but not murderous ones! I guess it would depend on the state of your mind in the first place, but it just seems like her actions are out of the blue.
And, yeah. Morrisson gets them sometimes. But he took poor ol' J to some weird places. I am not a fan of bullet-in-the-head-forked-tongue-blood-covered Joker. Guillem's Joker isn't half bad. His art is generally pretty darn good. I'm not totally sold on the Arkham Asylum make-up Joker is sporting though. It makes sense outside of Arkham, but I don't think they're going to give him his lipstick when he's in solitary. I am, however, glad his mouth no longer has stitches in it. Yeesh.

Saltheria In reply to BlitheFool [2011-03-16 18:10:56 +0000 UTC]
I dismiss it as emotional confusion for now. Like, she just finds an excuse to get into Arkham or something. Or she is in denial, because of being so long away from him and thus influenced by her friends ever so slightly.
It still bothers me.
Ugh, that Joker. It's just wrong. There's nothing cool about a generic blood-covered masohistic maniac, it looks like a rip-off from Silent Hill instead.
Make-up Joker? Which one is it? I though it was only Ledjoker who used actual makeup, every other Joker has it naturally...

BlitheFool In reply to Saltheria [2011-03-16 18:21:02 +0000 UTC]
I suppose, if it leads to them reuniting, I'll forgive the shaky plot! However, if this is just a ploy to sell more comics, I'm gonna be mad.
I know it! I really, really dislike that version of the Joker. I did like the green all lower case font they used for his speak bubbles. That was about it.
Oh, his skin is all white naturally (er, chemically!) but the extended smile, as assumed, is make-up? I mean, his lips are red but it looks like part of it is paint. The way it stretches? Unless he tattooed his face or something...

BlitheFool In reply to Saltheria [2011-03-16 18:48:53 +0000 UTC]
I sure hope so! I don't want this to be a "I'm gonna kill you! Nevermind. Let's just break up forever" or something banal like that. Which wouldn't even shock me with the poor quality of writing!
I liked the black and red theme as well. Seems like Grant was hinting at something there in a not-so-subtle way. I rather liked the end of the whole Morrisson mess in Batman and Robin. Joker became a bad ass again. And the are was so beautiful.
Well, his lips are red because of the chemicals but I think this: [link]
is paint
Vs this: [link]
which is just the way his lips look because of his dip at the Ace Chemical Plant.

This would SUCK so much! I expect a flood of letters to DC by furious fans. But I doubt they'd go this far. They know how popular the couple is... Why still keep them separate is beyond me.
I expect a "I'm gonna kill you!" "Yeah, baby, I missed you too!" "...you did? REALLY? Aw Puddin'!" scenario. Seriously. This would be so THEM.
Grant seems to like Harley and understand the relationship, and it's a good thing. She probably was Joker's inspiration for that theme after all, I have no other explanation for that obsession.
You need her, mr J, admit it.
Ahhh. I see what you mean. Well, maybe Arkham Asylum was slightly inspired by Dark Knight's makeup, I dunno. Looks like he could do himself a tatoo on the lips, since it's always there.

BlitheFool In reply to Saltheria [2011-03-16 19:35:48 +0000 UTC]
I'm trying to stay cautious but hopeful. I guess, I can draw then together whenever I want (and I do!), but it would be nice to see it in the comics again.
I suspect the "Baby, you're the greatest!" kind of plot twist as well. He'll be ripping off Dini, but he could do a lot worse!
Oh, I think Joker was thinking of Harley in his own special way. He was also cross-dressing at the time. Clearly he was a bit confused.
After TDK came out I noticed it influencing the comics for sure (what with J cutting up his face and what not). Seems like that was short lived though.

I like LedJoker too, but he's not THE Joker. What can I say? I fell hard for Mark Hamill's Animated Series Joker as a kid and never recovered. That's a totally normal crush for a 10 year old girl to have, right? Hah hah.

As it does mine. We'll have to continue surviving on it unless DC gives us canon candy!
Funny thing is, I wasn't that much into Batman before the Dark Knight. So after it, I got curious and started digging into the classics...
And I TOTALLY fell for the classic Joker, and now for the animated one too. He's my Joker. Ledger was good, but not the best, oh no. Despite the fans' claims.
It's like with Doctor Who. You are most likely bound to love only one Doctor out of all the eleven, love truly and consider him YOUR Doctor. It may be your first one, most of the time, but there are other criteria. Same with the Joker, I guess.

Oh, really? I feel like a lot of people kind of rediscovered Batman through TDK, which is awesome, in my opinion. But I think some people came to the comics expecting them to be Nolan-versey. And they so aren't! I was a total Batman the Animated Series fanatic when I was a kid. It first aired when I was 10 and it sort of kick started my interest in comics and drawing comics. Thanks, Batman!
I think I'm the only comic-nerd girl who doesn't watch Dr. Who!

Well, I had a slight interest in it before TDK, particulary Joker/Harley in fact, because my friend was a hardcore fan of the couple. But TDK really sparked my interest further.
Of course, I did not expect the comics to be similiar to the film, I knew they would be different and awesome!
I don't think I was born when it first aired. *sigh*
