Hakawati = Storyteller.My last submission for 2009, and I'm quite happy with it.
Made for ImagineFX monthly challenge, the theme this month being "Fables, Fairy Tales, or Nursery Rhymes".
I actually had the idea for a while; to draw the Frenchman Antoine Galland recording the 1001 Arabian Nights in Syria. I obviously love the Syrian connection, and by chance I chose to set it in Aleppo.. as I read about it more it turns out that it does in fact take place in Aleppo! The Frenchman recorded the three most famous stories as he heard them from a Christian monk, and up to that point there were no written versions of Aladdin, Sinbad or Ali Baba, as the story goes.
Anyways, gotta go sleep now. Happy new year everybody
