Description First attempt for an effective use of outline colors. I hardly believe the effect is perfect, but I decided that I like where its going. It seemed to me that most people answered that they liked the black lines best (as directly from the poll), but a vast majority of people seemed to think the technique was worth pursuing. So, here we have the happy medium.

BUT WAIT

There's a background as well?!

Yup. I've decided to pursue backgrounds as well recently. The profile series will continue with its abstract backgrounds (consistency ftw), but for the most part, I hope to be consistent with the non-profile images having backgrounds. I think this one didn't go so bad.

Love it.

Oh, that's neat to hear. Well, I always do a follow-up feature in an article later on, so you have at least one more feature coming (though I hope that's not the last by any means).

I like the way the colored outlines seem to make her skin glow. That is a cool technique.

I was more talking about the woman than the background... though i do like the bg too.

Holy awesome, Sam!

Looks great ... the background is very nice. Love the skin/freckles and the wings are so cute! Great textures all around. Its just really awesome as a whole ... i think the background really is what makes a huge difference. And the lines look good ... i barley noticed them, which is really ideal imo.

*nod*
Thanks for commenting on this lines. That's the part I'm still a little unsure about in a few places- mainly how they interact with the background. I guess one of my issues is that I don't use lines at all on most of the backgrounds I've done, and I wonder if it makes it look.... disjointed? Iono... not like I have a ton of practice doing bg's

*sigh*

Whatever. Its shiny and pretty, so I'm happy with it :3

I don't think not having the lines in the background makes it disjointed at all ... i like the background being softer like it is ... it helps complete the picture without taking away from the actual character, i think lines might look a bit harsh in the background ...

but yeah ... not like I'm a background expert ... i did one once... i think ... >.> well i thought about it once that counts right?

Just because you don't do them doesn't mean your opinion isn't valid. I had a rant about this in a journal some time ago. Sometimes, its the distance from the art that gives people better perspective than thusly experienced artists. I mean, when I look at a piece, I tend to give artists quite a bit of slack since a lot of the time I've been there, done that, and got pissed off trying to make it just perfect.

So yeah, your opinion counts.
