Don't be so hard on yourself . Your work is getting better, just keep it up .

Ohhh, why aren't you happy with what you're doing? This is already impressive!
However, I think it is great that you notice all those things that you can improve by yourself, it means that you already know what you have to improve, and it can only go faster and faster ^^ Keep up the good work!

What are you talking about?! This is so beautiful!
So what if there are some hiccups here and there - you know what you want to change and then next time it'll go so much better!
I really like the shading and coloring of the dogs cheek! The color combination is really good - everything just works so well together. I like the background so much! There is some detail but the focus is still mainly on the dog.
One of the things I might have done a little differently was create a greater definition from the dog and all the pretty pink leaves. Maybe create some kind of outline on the leaves that are in front of the dog, or make some heavier shading on the dog so you really get the feeling that the leaves are in a layer in front of it
And girl?.... Get some new paper..

Yes. I know. Next time! I suppose I felt bad for the first few minutes after painting it (just felt I gave up and didn't get where I wanted) but I began to see what is good about it too and I feel better.
Thank you for all the input and kind words - I'm happy you think its beautiful. That's super sweet!
The background and all the leaves apart from the three on top the dogs head were all meant to be blurry or out of focus. I had no idea how to convey that though. I wanted more colour and more interaction in the background of water and pigment but I think it worked out alright as is.
I didn't want much focus on the leaves and didn't want to spend too long making then pretty and accidentally making them a focus lol.. But I definitely could of done more work on them - I just have no idea how.
And yes, as I'm getting a bit more in depth with my work - I really do need better paper that can withstand my brushes, my paint and my layers! (I'd love to see how my pigments and brushes react on different paper!)

That's good!
It worked out really good - I think you've done just the right amount of leaf silhouettes
Try some different things on small doodles? (yes - here they come again). It might work out for you!
I think your art will thank you for it!

I love the soft colors and the calm, sweet expression in the dog!

The positives far out weigh the negatives with this. (I just like it.) I think it is good in the way you always look for areas for improvement.
I think in a while you'll be really good. You're so talented! Just keep at it!

As an art teacher, I am always worried by students who cannot see their mistakes. How can they learn? How do they improve?
I always leave a comment. This shows you someone has taken the time to actually write something and you care about the work. More so with drawing and painting, than photography. I know a lot of my work is more dumb luck than good photography. lol

Dumb luck happens in painting and drawing too sometimes. Believe me
