That was very helpful! I do have one question (and I googled it first, but didn't get any helpful answers), I used the image code but nothing seems to be working (triple checked it too).
The link I used was: [link]

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for the tutorial

I'm not really sure to be honest, but if you could show me the code I would be more than happy to try and solve the issue.

Wow!I honestly don't know why it isn't showing up. Your code appears to be all right and I haven't ever seen this before. the only thing I can think of is that the file is stored on your computer and the image is online. Still, I dunno why that would be... maybe try saving the image to the same folder as the html file as "coyote.jpg" and then replace the long url in your html with just the name of the image.

Sorry for the very late reply! I tried it, no luck :\ I'll keep looking around google and trying things, it might just be firefox or my computer.

Thank you for taking the time to make this! It's sad that I have minor interest in coding, but am borderline incompetent when it comes to such things haha XD You've shed some light on the subject, so thank you!

I just read through your whole tutorial, this is very helpful!! I just have a couple questions... What do you mean by < b >, < u > and < i > tags are deprecated? And is CSS used with HTML? Like if I'm going to write a code and I want to use both CSS and HTML together, can I use their codes alongside each other?

SanguineEpitaph In reply to SweetLittleSmiles [2012-09-01 03:53:21 +0000 UTC]

I am glad to be helpful! Thanks for using my tutorial.

In the tutorial, that is actually incorrect (I wrote this a few years ago when I didn't know as much about HTML as I do now). Those tags are not deprecated, so you can ignore that. It would have meant that their use is discouraged because they're old/wrong/inefficient (such as the tag <font></font>, which is deprecated). Basically it's obsolete and unnecessary and what it does can be accomplished by CSS/another tag.

HTML is like building a person (a man, let's say), and CSS is like giving your newly created man some clothes. CSS is the stuff that makes HTML pretty, colorful, formatted, and consistent. HTML is only for showing data (like text, images, etc.) on a page, CSS is for making it look nice.

If you code a website you definitely need CSS and HTML, and they do work together. However, HTML and CSS should not really be written in the same document -- you need an HTML document (for your home page or something) and a CSS document (which is separate, but might be called mainCSS.css if it's to style the pages of your website). I hope that's not confusing! I have a CSS tutorial available if you're interested: [link]

Hope this helps!

Okay, thank you very much! Um, since you offered to answer questions on your page, I was wondering if you could teach me a bit about making journal skins, if you know how? I've been making custom box backgrounds stuffs lately and I've been thinking about taking it to another step and starting to make journal skins!

SanguineEpitaph In reply to SweetLittleSmiles [2012-11-08 02:58:36 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for the long delay in responding! I can't go into details about the skin structure because it will take a very long time! But I can direct you to `ginkgografix 's gallery. She has a multitude of resources about skin structure and how to access certain parts of the skin with CSS. Hope this helps!

I can't use hyperlinks for some reason :/ they keep going to the page of the picture I'm using... Do I need to use only Text? or is there another way for me to use photos as the hyperlink? should I use ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SanguineEpitaph In reply to Starkke [2012-07-29 16:59:51 +0000 UTC]

You should use <a href="url you want them to go to"><img src="image's url" /></a>

Hope that helps!
