Another photography assignment, woo!
This time I was challenged to take photos from the road, without going off of the road to take them. So naturally, I decided to take a macro shot OF the road. 
I love the texture that it has.
That's basically the entire visual interest of the piece. 
I have more pictures from this assignment, too, but I don't want to overload your devWatch inbox!

So up close and in black and white it looked to me like a plain of dried mud.. like a desert or something. Nice texture! I kind of want to touch it.

Interesting perspective, I have to say! And an interesting thought to have gone for a macro shot of the road itself.
I like how you've made it more intriguing through the monotone and the depth of field. The way the latter is quite shallow gives us more of a sense of what we should be focusing on, although the blurred background adds further support and atmosphere to things, I feel. I like the monotone in the way it makes things more serious, but also emphasises of time... passing, perhaps.
Part of me feels you could crop this into a square, but I think it's fine as it is. Feels almost creepy.

This is really neat, I love how only one band of the photo is focused. Sweet contrast, too. Did the road have any lines painted on it?
