does vegan (i assume it is because of the lack of cream cheese) taste the same as regular cheesecake? i would assume not, but i don't know what the substitute is so i don't know if it would taste good at all, let alone like regular cheesecake. either way, this *looks* super tasty (and i hope it was as well)! very nice! ^^

I wouldn't call this a vegan cheesecake for the basic reasons that it's not. I didn't use cream cheese but I used yoghurt-cheese ( labneh ); which is just basically strained yoghurt. The dairy products (yoghurt, butter) and eggs eliminate it from being a vegan food. The texture is very similar but there's a slight difference in taste; cheesecake with cream cheese tastes creamier and slightly denser whereas this was fluffy and has a bit more sour kick to it (which you can get by adding sour cream if you're using cream cheese).
