Description Fifteen years gone now
I still wander this parapet
And shake my rattle bone
Fifteen years gone now
I still cling to the petticoats
Of the girl who died with me
"Leslie Ann Levine" by The Decemberists

Model is (yet again, the very beautiful) ~LordShapersMuse .

I've been big into 'steampunk' lately, and I thought a photo shoot set in the fantastical Age of Steam would be fun.

~LordShapersMuse had just bought the dress you're seeing and I commented on its very Edwardian style. Sure, Edwardian era was filled with large poofy dresses and such, but what of the commonfolk, eh? All you period costume people do is focus on the aristocracy, so I went a little Lenin and gave you a poor simple girl confronted with the pinnacle of industrial airpower.

Oh, yeah, that is the Graf Zeppelin.
I would credit the original photographer, but...well, nobody knows who that is, and he's likely been dead for almost a century now. Here's to whoever got to see this big bird fly then.

great layout, my only gripe would be with the females head being along the centerline, and touching /fusing with it. it makes it difficult and slightly disturbing for myself, to place or imagine her in space, or at least at a certain comfortable depth. The high key image doesnt help with that too, further flattening the scene. It becomes very graphic, for a piece that I would have preferred richly spread over the entire value range.

However,
Its an interesting way to tell a story, as the skirt nicely sits with the sand and her white top with the water.. it almost seems as though shes materialising out of thin air. Whether deliberate or otherwise, its a nice and "comforting" element to me.

You know, I had the same problem with the picture - that her head matched the horizon? It annoyed the living shit out of me for the longest time, until I realized that the angle, lighting, etc, was the best to use for what I wanted to accomplish.

Thank you for your review though. Not a comment, but a review - best thing anyone has ever said.

I am developing a non-commercial pen & paper roleplaying game, working title "the world of jules verne", in a world (some may call it "steampunk") full of technological wonders, somewhat like in the game arcanum (but without the magic). Right now, I am searching for artwork which I could use for the game, and this would be perfect. do you mind if I use it? Even if you do, please tell me!! Thanks a million, coco

well, it will be online one day, thats where you can get your copy and all the updates.
I am planning to put some commercial banners on the website, but thats just to get the money for the server space, you know that. I wont sell any copys of that game. you'll get credit, of course.

Did you splice that air balloon in there or was it already there?

Amazingly beautiful picture, by the way. <3 beach shots.

If you can't tell, then I'm not telling. *snicker*
Yeah, I spliced it in.
