Description
Since I am not planning to build a classic crossbow I tried to add some features to make it look rather technical and came up with an advanced loading mechanism. On top of the crossbow shaft there is a gear rack (red) which is operated by turning a crank on the side of the shaft. The gear rack has a pair of claws on both sides (seen on the right end) which will grap the sinew when it is in its released position.
Turning the crank will move the claws and pull the sinew to the locking mechanism where it will be held by the nut
