Wow this is lovely! Immediately I was drawn to it. The first thing I really like is that this does not need every possible intricate detail imaginable, like individual feathers and such. It creates just as much of an impact, if not more, with the way it is drawn now. If this is a 10 point commission I can't imagine 100 points haha

Thank you so much ^^ I really appreciate your opinion on my piece , I'm glad that the effects I put did well. Texturing the piece was very fun...and help lessen the need of tedious details x3 I don't really care about points or money when I do my art...so I doubt it'll make much of a difference in my art work

Hi there, i'm from HowMuchIsYourArtWorth!

I just wanted to say that this is worth way more that 10 points! Bear in mind that this would be under 13 cents! Which is crazy!

So have a think about how much you charge for it! I understand that you don't want to overcharge and lose business! So start off by just charging more in general!

Because if this took 3 hours, then you're earning 4 cents per hour!

But i really love this piece!! Its REALLY good!! You're very talented!

You really don't know how much this made my day.... ;o; (was staring at this comment in my inbox thinking of how to respond...) .... I've always been worried about pricing and commissions since I'm afraid that no one will buy my art, this more of an experiment than an actuall commission......but even at this price...Only one person commissioned me over the curse of 4 months

Ahahaa, well i'm glad you liked it! The main issue with why you aren't getting any commissions isn't the content, but more your reputation and marketing! Lets see what i can suggest...

I've had a look through your page! Firstly, you're only sixteen! So just bear in mind that getting a commission at this age is a big achievement! So if you don't get one, then there's nothing wrong with that! Use the time to build up an online portfolio if you're interested in going into any design course!

As i said, your main issue is your reputation. The type of art you do is hugely common. This doesn't mean theres anything wrong with it, just that there's a lot of competition! And 100 watchers in that means that you might find it hard to grab attention. :/ To combat this, you need to make sure you get yourself out there! Post in the forums and chat for a bit, and make sure that you put your work into lots of groups! That'll get more people interested, and so, more commissions! ;D

I don't know how often you go through and edit the stuff in your profile, but if you're interested in doing commissions, make a point out of it! in your ID, make a big title that says about commissions, and move your ID to the top where its the first thing people see! That way, when people come to your page, they know immediately about you, and not your latest blog post which can be a little misleading sometimes!

But yeah, just keep persevering! I would work on your own pieces for a while, whilst advertising that you do commissions! If no-one comes for one - even better, you can improve and do the stuff you love!!

Hope it works out for you

That's really surprised me : 0 I always though it was good to start off with drawing well known books, cartoons, styles and etc to attract fans from large fan bases, then branching out into individual art. Thank you very much for all the information you're giving me! This is really helpful to hear from an experienced artist, I never knew page layouts can affect commissions. Although I have a bit of a shy streak...so chatting in forums will surely be an experience ;. I hope to see you again one day!

Yeah, well that is a great way to help as well! You should try drawing your own characters in other peoples styles, and other peoples characters in your own style!
You're welcome!

Over here from golden critque club : you said you don't know how to price things, so I am going to start with a suggestion on that.

This took you 2-3 hours, when estimating a commission, and you should always price in advance, I would go with the 3 hours. Β So, 3 hours times what you want to make money wise, and I don't ever recomend an artist go under $10 per hour so you have 3x$10=$30, but, even though you do digital art, you still have supplies, electricty, computer, tablet, so I would bump that up to $35.

80 points = $1 I would recomend pricing in cash, and then just letting people know you will take the equivalent in points. Β Don't sell your art for less than a soda.

On to the critique bit, I LOVE this piece, great sense of motion, and I like your use of texture. Β The dragons neck and head blend into the dark background in that area, I would either like to see more highligts on the neck, and head, to make them "pop" or lighter colored background. Β I like how the back wing fades into the darkness, and the anatomy of the dragon is nice, looks believable.
