Description
This 1935 Packard was restored and entered into the 2017 Great Race by the high school students in the Gilmore Car Museum's Garage Works program. The car was donated to the Garage Works program by a woman whose late husband died before he could do the restoration. Since you must be 21 to drive in the race, the instructors were the drivers and the students took turns navigating. The rally race that year was from Jacksonville, Florida to Traverse City, Michigan. If my memory serves me, I believe they finished 11th in the rookie division. The Gilmore Garage Works program is an after school program that trains local high school students in the art of vintage car restoration.
