Mystery Skulls Animated was created by Mystery Ben and he has a tumblr, which is pretty much called Mystery Ben.

This is true, but I don't think Ben has a DA in this case. I've never seen one! Most of his crew is on there as well.

I was considering buying one myself, but since I used to screen print my own designs, I've been skeptical of it.

Screen printing is a way to lay ink down on a design for a T-shirt and pull it across the screen so that you have your own design on a shirt. This used to be the original method for creating graphic shirts until machines were developed.

Ben made her up, so nobody really knows what or who she is yet. All we really know is that she's not nice and can track people using flowers.

Hopefully! Maybe some sort of troll, or elf, or ogre, or maybe a yokai! Who knows! Maybe a descendant of a treant? A type of faerie? The possibilities are endless!

It's alright if you're not really into it, but I wouldn't expect too much since it's just a handful of artists making this for fun and using music from an independent musician/ friend. Since the crew is so small, they don't have the ability to animate a ton and also have day-jobs to focus on too. To really understand the details of this story, they have to hide clues all over the videos, so you won't understand much just by watching the characters. You have to piece this puzzling story together from the hidden items in the background. So the full story will never be spoonfed, you have to work for it in this case.

The first video was just intended to support Luis and give him some notoriety with one of his songs, but then a fandom erupted. So the second video is meant to be open-ended and really start telling a story to these characters. This second video is their first shot at a series, so production organization might have needed some improvement, but they've learned from it and will hopefully be better prepared for the next video.

Okay then, let's look in the background.

0:10 - Well, I already found one thing.  It looks like the demon possessed hand is still alive like I already said.
0:17 - Skulls to indicate more people have died here than just Lewis.
0:48 - There's a part of Lewis that is still in the cave.
2:01 - Both lamposts were turned on by Lewis.  Is that supposed to symbolize anything?
2:27 - Does that jump cut imply voodoo?
2:31 - Let's see what's in the background.  A glove, some wires, and a lamp.  Nothing else worth mentioning.
2:34 - There's a dragon mask.  Does that mean a dragon is coming?
2:40 - That's a dream catcher from Native American lore.  Also, are those onions going to make garlic to ward off vampires?
2:41 - A crystal ball, silver bells, a key, and a scarf are visible in this shot.
3:17 - CB Radio and what I think are CDs.  I wonder if truckers listen to CDs when they get bored.
3:21 - The trucker has a chicken on his head.
3:27 - And finally, after Lewis changes the truck, we have chili peppers on the rear view mirror.

I'm not so sure I'm good at this.  Most of the video is long stretches of nothing in the background.  I found a lot in the Mystery Skulls van, but I get the feeling I found a lot of red herrings there.  I have no idea what these all mean.

Some of those small details are not really important at all. Lamp posts? No.

There's meaning behind the objects they chose, I wouldn't focus just on the surface of what you see. I pointed out the dragon chest with the pearl to one of the director head's of the project and she hinted it was a strange object to have in a van. Knowing that Vivi is Japanese, I understand why there is a dragon on the chest, it represents good luck, but it holds a precious pearl and there are spiritual seals all over it. Yet, the chest is open. Could it be that there was something important in there, whether relevant or not to the main story? The garlic, and holy water indicate the level of supernatural these guys deal with, but not that there are going to be vampires. The dream catchers not only symbolize "dream catching" but they have lotus motifs inside of them. Some of these things you might have to look up in order to know what they mean, but there are a lot of general items in the background as well.

Lewis likes chili peppers, that's why those are there.

Part of the fun people are having with this is trying to piece everything together from these items. If it's not your thing I can understand why it may be a bit boring, but Tumblr is raging about this and there are so many folks exchanging ideas and making theories. I'm just trying to write a comic about it so I'm listening in, but I don't particularly want to spend my time making up theories and analyzing these backgrounds. I've got other things I should be doing, but the interactive aspect of this fandom is what makes it enjoyable.

You're awesome for sharing this with me, I really love hearing that my passion is inspiring to you!

I make so much art that I can have a wide range of feelings, from being "iffy" to thinking I made something really good by my standards. There are of course some artworks I'm really excited to share and get feedback on, while others I may worry about since I find myself comparing the successes of one work to another. Truth is, not everything I make is going to be successful, but most of the time I have fun creating it.

I'm so excited that this new video and my comic are not too far off. I really try to keep my fan stories believable, so knowing that all this work I've put into it hasn't been derailed makes me relieved. Having people move between the video and my comic with few complications is a pretty cool feeling. Even the creators said they've been enjoying it too! As for Shiromori, I've mentioned her in my version already, but I'll have to see if there are any logical connections I can make with the new video at this point.

Animation takes a very long time and their crew is only a handful of people working on it. It's the nature of the beast. We're lucky they even took the time to make us another video.

You're right.  Sometimes I forget how time consuming animation can be.  I'm really glad we got this though.  I'm glad they are continuing the story too.  I can't wait to see the artwork and stories that come from this
