Indeed so. But Iβd much rather ride the precious redhead, please. I really donβt think she needs this organic car.

Marketing does destroy the meaning of words doesn't it? I work in a supermarket and i try to laugh at customers who ask if our fruit and veg is 'organic'. I've been eagerly awaiting 'organic' salt to hit the shelves.

Oh man! I didn't notice the little ribbed tube connected to the salesman until just now. So is he being mentally controlled by the cars, or is he just a highly elaborate lure like on an anglerfish?

Any of the above and who knows what else, I like raising disturbing questions without even settling on an answer myself - otherwise they stop being as disturbing!

NocturnalSea In reply to scythemantis [2012-08-12 03:50:47 +0000 UTC]
I'd like to think he's a highly sophisticated lure. After several years of doing this, he's eventually gained sentience and wonders why he must continually bring in human prey to his bio-transformer masters. He feels guilt over all the deaths he's caused and wants desperately to separate from the main body. But he doesn't have a complete set of internal organs, so detaching would kill him. And he can only get the nutrients he needs to survive by feeding humans to those biocars. That oily smile is there to hide his torment.

That "car" is horrifying. I wish it was real. If such a car could be trained to attack strangers trying to break into it, I'd be sold!

scythemantis In reply to NocturnalSea [2012-08-10 21:02:23 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I've wanted to design toys since I was little and I'm pretty excited for how quickly 3-d printing is already advancing, even before it's widely hit the market. They made all the puppet parts for that movie Paranorman with a color 3-d printer, that just amazes me. We have the technology now to just replicate whatever object we want!
I'll just have to learn 3-d modeling, I think!

Scutigera In reply to scythemantis [2012-08-10 23:12:58 +0000 UTC]
A good 3D modeling program for beginners is Sculptris. It's free, you can pack as much detail into the objects as your computer can render, it's very intuitive (you can click and drag bits of the object to shape it like clay), it has a good selection of object manipulation tools, and its objects can be exported and textured/colored/painted in a similarly intuitive click-and-drag way. Its only significant limitation is that its models aren't rigged onto joints so they can't be posed easily or animated. They can be exported to other 3D programs; I'm not sure whether they can be rigged retroactively. There are screenshots and tutorial videos and speed sculpts of objects made with Sculptris if you want to see what can be done with the program.

sweet. It looks like one of those Real Ghostbusters ghost toys that would transform into a mundane object-- like that taxi cab that turned into a preying mantis. Man, I hope you someday get to design toys for reals!

Yeah technically almost anything can legally be called "organic." Some of the most horrible carcinogenic toxins in the world are still "organic."

not-fun In reply to scythemantis [2012-08-10 21:18:32 +0000 UTC]
it makes my head hurt because how can one organism be more organic than another
why would you feel high and mighty about yourself for eating 'organic' when 99% of what you eat is organic (i say 99 because you know fast food) as your body kinda can't break down inorganic matter for nutrients arg it just smacks of total ignorance perpetuated by a bunch of idiots who think it makes them smart to buy into the advertising campaigns of food corporations arg arg arg arrrrrrg

scythemantis In reply to not-fun [2012-08-10 21:33:47 +0000 UTC]
Especially sad is how many people think "organic" means the food wasn't genetically modified.
It's even sadder than people thinking genetically modified food will hurt them to eat at all.
