Description
Well, this hit me as an idea the other night while in bed so as a break between commissions i decided to try get this down. I have actually shown this pair before, with decent success but that was in an alternate universe, but their story is still basically the same. Prepare to see a lot more of these two!
OH GOD SARAH LOOKS TERRIBLE, People are stupid and UGHHHH so ignore her.
ANYWAY HAVE SOME STORY!

Mark could feel his sister growing more and more restless. She was a creature of action. She needed to have a task, something to aim for. Her holiday away from their mother and the family farm had not been what she had been the distraction she had been looking for. He had tried to put her to work helping him with the stock but finding the right horse for her had not been as easy as you would think on a stud farm.
Sarah was a rather small person, and although she was feisty as hell and could pack a decent punch she didn’t suit a lot of horses. He had tried her on Duke and although she was an excellent horse woman she was so light that the already hard to handle stud just couldn’t take her seriously. The smaller and easy going Garry was possibly the best fit so far, but although he was a bit quieter he also was in high demand as a lesson horse. Ellie was a good match and even suited Sarah’s love of Endurance, but she was still very green and currently undergoing intensive flatwork training with Vonnie and they didn’t want to mess with that girls schedule.
It had been a joke made by one of the students that got him thinking. What about that wild Snow Pony that was looking rather feral in Jumbuck’s. He had never seen the small stallion do much. When he had first arrived it had only been a few months since the accident and reduction sale. Back then Hunk had lived in the barn. He had been doted on and loved, everyone fussed over him and spent extra time with him. Hunk had taken the death of his rider badly, losing weight and became noticeably withdrawn. John had told him stories of the once clownish stallion that would do tricks and mince up to every woman around for affection. It was sad to think of him now.
He had refused anyone who tried to ride him. Cavan had apparently warned Neaghe of the Obertaurer tendency to fix to one rider and that sometimes they never moved on. Always the business woman, Neaghe did not like the idea of having a horse that was doing nothing and his small size would have been perfect for the riding school students. After he bucked off Ryan, Jess and even Harley who normally liked hot horses Neaghe had given up. Harley and Ryan had tried their best to work with him over the years, but Hunk had never liked men too much at the best of times and Harley could only spend so much time being thrown off him in between shows and travelling. In the end they decided to let him spell out in the paddocks. He had spent his younger years living semi wild and was the most comfortable in nature. Ryan had told him that’s what Frankie had loved so much about him.
In the end he decided to take her for a walk one afternoon, tempting her with the promise of meeting one more horse. They had strolled amongst the gum trees, talking about the weather, his job, possible love interests, really anything that wasn’t about their mother or the possibility that their childhood home might soon be gone. They had reached the top of the hill when he saw the roan grazing amongst the scrub. He touched Sarah on the shoulder, pointing towards the stallion.
Hunk was much messier than last time he saw him. He had obviously found a nice tree to scratch against, and some mud to roll in but his general condition was pretty good. Sarah was walking towards him, and from the set of her shoulders Mark could tell that she would meet this horse if it took all day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hunk had been very unimpressed that some stranger had interrupted his lunch. He was even less impressed that she seemed determined to get close to him. He pinned his ears, ignored her and walked off multiple times but she kept right there behind him. Sarah spent a good 3 hours following him. Mark had left after a little while to get back to work, but when he returned at the end of the day he found Sarah sitting on a rock not far from Hunk watching him.
Without a word he handed her the rope he had brought with him. She flashed a quick smile at him before walking over to the horse. This time was much smoother. A rather unhappy face was shot by Hunk, but Sarah took that with the same no nonsense approach she that she used when dealing with all animals. A stern no with a very serious expression on her face soon had him unhappily standing still as she haltered him. They lead him back to the stables together, though Hunk was very firm about walking as far away from Mark as possible.
Sarah spent that evening cleaning him up, washing, brushing, and trimming, all of it to Hunks immense displeasure. Then they put him into his old stall next to Axe and Maggie, the old couple of the stallion barn. It was only once she was sure that he had settled in that Sarah would leave him.
