Description I'm back in Australia and making sculptures again! It's been too long. The first of many commissioned pieces that I need to make.

This shiny rat is made of:

Wire mesh armature
Silver CD shards
Toy wiggle snake (tail)
Chrome paint
Hot glue


Good to be home.

Excellent use of simple materials but the real magic is capturing the playful feel of each subject.

Loving looking through your gallery. Great use of household objects - the use of the wiggly snake for the tail is such a cool idea, and with the chrome paint is virtually seamless. The sculptures are beautifully, and vividly rendered in your photos, to the point where I am almost satisfied that I probably won't get to see one in the flesh in the near future (unless some turn up in a local gallery).

The shards aren't sharp enough to cut anyone. It might hurt if you ate them, but other than that, they're perfectly safe!

It just felt like the nineties was covered in a perpetual iridescent and/or fluorescent sheen.
