HOW NAIVE I WAS AKJFLDHG...... but honestly looking at them causes me physical damage. THE RIPPLING TEXTURES THAT THEY ADD ARE PERFeCT I ALWAYS HAD GOLDFISH-LIKE IRIDESCENCE IN MIND FOR HIM AND THEY REPRESENT THAT SO WELL
and the smooth, crystalline colours of them add so much man THANK YOU FOR PAYING SO MUCH ATTENTION TO HIS REFERENCE IN THIS <33333
the highlights on them are g o r g e o u s and make him look like a galaxy of stars himself ;__; the soft glittery layers look so tactile and real too im mesmerised i just want to reach out and tOUCH THEM

the shading under the thicker scales is also done incredibly well, and the fact that you've paid so much attention to each one blows my mind- NOT TO MENTION THAT YOU ADDED SCRATCHES IM ;A;;;;; (were they caused by axes)
and these gold renders... man <33 they're incredible man just like EVERYTHING ELSE IN THIS ENTIRE IMAGE!! (his horns r mindblowing CHRIST)
also major props to you for choosing such a fitting background!!! again it fits him so damn weLL AND ITS PULLED OFF FABULOUSLY OVOb THIS IS SUCH A POWERFUL IMAGE AND IT GIVES ME 8 YEARS ON MY LIFE WHENEVER I LOOK AT IT!!

I don't know who I should feel more sorry for; the artist who had to draw all those scales, or the computer that had to render all those scales, let alone make a speedpaint outta it!

Ok serious question:
I just watched the speedpaint (and I am just blown away by it btw) but I still can’t figure out how you make the bigger scales... You know the ones you smooth out??
What brush/tool do you use to make that effect? And is this brush/tool just accessible in the art program you use or does more programs have it?
Sorry if you get this question a lot.. if so, I hope I’m not bothering you too much.

I have 2 main scale layers, the "dot" scales (underneath) and then the dark outlines (above layer) - then some extra layers for the highlights and details
I start out with the "dot scales" for a rough placeholder and then create a layer above to make the final scale outlines
Then I go back to the "dot scales" layer and just use PS's default smudge tool to smooth out the dots according to the outlines on the layer above <: I use one of the default crisp brushes to smudge but I think any round brush can do
I hope any of this makes sense I'm bad at explaining dfghjj

Pardon my language, but: HOLY HECKING LLAMAS ON ROLLERSKATES THIS IS AMAZING. The way this majestic creature fits so well with that space background, and how their scales shimmer in multiple colors, and the way you go all out with that posing and floaty details, all of that totally blows me away. That sheer amount of detail work that can be seen in the full artwork is making me not have any better words to describe just how much I admire that. The close up shows how much effort you put into that and that's just?? Jaw-dropping, awesome.
