Time Taken: Two weeks

Something a little different. This was actually the Christmas present I gave to my dad and grandparents. They have a real love for Native Americans, my grandparents in particular have a favorite artist and this was semi-inspired by that. My dad laughed when he saw it, he thought it was Turok. Hee hee.

I did quite a bit of research for this picture, more than anyone probably cares to hear, but I wanted to make the picture look as realistic as possible. Everyone in my family that saw this said it didn't look like anything I have ever drawn, so I guess I succeeded.

It really does look different, but I love seeing you demonstrate your skills with a different medium. Despite my love of the cel-shaded style, I can also really appreciate great use of penciled textures.

For that matter, I'm not really sure where the line is drawn between pencil and photoshop. Did you color it entirely in photoshop? If so, you really did a good job with the transition, because I'm not sure where the sketch ends and the computer manipulation begins.

Another thing I really appreciate is an excellent forest landscape. And you've done it in both winter and after the thaw! Best of both worlds.

It's also really good to hear that you researched this. Did you mostly research the native American clothing, or did a lot of time go into the location and the animals?

Hey you, thanks for the comment.

All of the color was done in Photoshop over my original pencil sketch.

As for the research it was not only done on the Native American clothing, but his weapons, the animals, as well as the forest. And let me just say, research on all of those was REALLY time consuming.

Sure thing!

Ahh, I still don't understand how one can do that without inking, but great job with the coloring.

I understand it must have been a lot of work, but I for one greatly appreciate that you did the research.
