Felt like drawing a portrait of Catalyst, one of my favorite villains in the Sentinel Corps universe. Just for fun, I even added a little sneak peek of the face behind the mask.
The best aspect about Catalyst in my opinion, is that he's one of the most terrifying villains in the SCU, not because of his abilities, there are other en-humans, including Atomic Girl, with powers that are stronger than his. He is terrifying because of who he is, a cold, emotionless being of logic, who would not bat an eye when committing horrendous human experiments all for the sake of scientific curiosity. This was factor when it came to revealing part of his face in this portrait here. When it comes to most fictional psychopaths, they are usually drawn to have crazed eyes, bloodshot, full of rage, that sort of thing. There is so much going in eyes like those, but with Catalyst, it's the complete opposite. Despite the evidence of cosmetic surgery done to his face, making it impossible to know what his real face looked like, the one thing that didn't change was the look in his eye. When you look into his eye, there is nothing, no hint of human emotion in that stare, no joy, no anger, no remorse, nothing. So, if any unfortunate soul were to be taken by Catalyst to be experimented, they should not try to appeal to Catalyst humanity, he no longer has it.
