"I was just enjoying this beautiful night sky. Won't you join me?"
Jude glanced over his shoulder, wondering if the golden mare was speaking to someone else, but there was no one near enough to confirm his suspicions. He took a step closer to the mare and to the edge of Lake Nokotara, both he sensed were equally as dangerous to him.
"What's your name?" she asked, glancing at him from the corner of her eye.
He didn't immediately answer, but instead narrowed his eyes at her in scrutiny.
The mare laughed, the sound high pitched and bubbly. She didn't seem bothered by his gruff exterior.
He stepped closer.
"Jude."
