[link] Uaargh! Why can't I have a GOOD A3 sized scanner? Just WHY?! Things would be a lot easier. T____T
This painting is a bit bigger than A3 and I couldn't fit it properly in my scanner (not even in parts, the quality was HORRIBLE) and I had to take a photo with our crappy camera. Seriously, even our camera sucks badly. I hate it. I had to do major editing with various picture editing programs like Photoshop and Picasa to make this at least resemble the original painting. I think I did quite well but it sure looks WAY better IRL. Damn you, my scanner and camera! D8<

As I already told youin my journal, I was paiting a blue Pokémon and here you have it finished!
It's Arcticuno! One day I just had a huge urge to paint something with acrylics. I believe I've painted only one acrylic painting on a proper board. Okay, I once tried them on an ordinary sheet of paper but that didn't turn out too well. And I've done countless figures and tuned various things with acrylics but this is my first proper acrylic painting on a proper board. 
About two weeks ago it was beautiful weather: sun was shining and it painted the clouds and the sky with beautiful colours of winter. Occasional breezes caused clouds of powder snow that was dyed golden by the sun's rays. It was truly beautiful. And I had to paint that view. Articuno just popped from somewhere.
This was some kind of work that helped me relax during the exam week of mine. Understandably I did this in parts, I couldn't spent too many hours with this painting, I had to read a lot, too. But I managed to finish this yesterday evening. I had to wait for daylight to be able to take a proper photo, though.
I really like how this turned out but there are some things that I don't quite like (especially the poor job the camera did...).
I hope you like it! I'll be working on promised arts next.

It's very rare that I spend that much time on one piece. Sometimes I have enough patience and inspiration to work on a piece longer than ten hours but again it's rare. This painting is also bigger in size than my usual works.
I really like to draw Pokémon in semi-realistic style. I think cartoony style has never really fit me.

Wow, lovely articuno!
Your inspiration sure shows here. The skyscape of this painting is really gorgeous. And I love the golden, heavenly illumination of sun which contrasts articuno's blue so well. Really good work on the textures of articuno's feathers as well. For a moment I thought articuno looked strangely fluffy for being a pristine ice bird, but looking at your source of inspiration, it makes sense. Articuno's fluff does match the texture of light, powdery snow quite well, and in a way it really makes sense for a creature from a cold climate to have insulating, fluffy down. The bright red eye is really strong, almost mimicking the sun behind the bird that emanates its red rays. There's quite a bit of lofty pride coming from the expression of this flying legendary.

I guess drawing proud birds is something I like to do. Maybe I subconsciously transfer my own admiration for birds into the birds I draw which is why they turn that way. Who knows. Anyway, the bright red eye is still one of my favourite things about this painting, it creates some neat contrast with the other colours and works as a focal point, too.

Oh wow this is gorgeous. I love Articuno. It's probably tied with Honchkrow and Altaria as my favorite bird. You did such an amazing job! Wings and feathers (at least for me) are tough to draw and render, so you did them splendidly. And even the background is gorgeous! Really beautiful work

Niin, pikkukuvasta jo tätä ihastelin, aivan upeaa jälkeä oot saanu aikaan. Värität niin kamalan kauniisti, ja kaikki pikku yksityiskohdat tässä isommassa kuvassa on ihan mahtavia. Eritysesti tykkään tuosta miten olet saanu aikaan tuon valotuksen Articunon siipiin ja tietty tuosta lumesta ja KAIKESTA olet saanu tosi elävän ja kauniin näköistä :3

Ensinnäkin, hemmetti, sitä tosi asiaa ei voi kieltää, että sä oot helvetin lahjakas ihminen!
Tässä kuvassa on tosi nätti tunnelma, sellanen.. pysäytettä. Tulee sellanen kuva että ihan kohta se jatkaa matkaansa. Ihanat yksityiskohdat, ihan niinku sun töissä on aina, ne on tarkat ja ah ei niiden päälle voi kuin kuolata. <3 Kuvan värien sävyt on muuten hyvät kans, tyksin niistä ite ihan hirveästi, purrur~
