is a talented devartist that was my source of inspiration to join this community, and through his gallery I could see a much softer and refreshing aspect of this interest we share, one that I was previously unaware of (and he drew a cute pregnant Rushuna Tendo for me as well
). So he is the first person I decided to do an art trade with.My part of the trade was to do a character from his/darien-shields story "International Competition 'Miss Mars'". I had lots of trouble deciding which charater to draw, so I decided to do 3 of them. I also tried to portray a special situation, so they wouldn't just be there posing. I'm afraid I wasn't terribly original, as you see, but I'm aiming to a humorous situation here; I hope it turns out well enough once the text and color is added.
I hope the characters can be identified without their names. If not, then I'm doing something wrong (do tell me if it's the case).

Edit: SaburoX told me about the mistake I made about the heights so I decided to upload the image again, this time with some digital edits to make Katy the tallest. It seems to have worked, at least as a quick fix. Sorry about the cut on Jin's head, the scan was preliminar, so the top border of the image wasn't covered.

All charas are from the Miss Mars story that I mentioned in the comments section (LtR: Katy Liberty, Jin Mei Zhong and Emi Saito).
They're cosplaying as (LtR): Blue Mary (Fatal Fury/King of Fighters games), Chun-Li, and Ibuki (the Street Fighter III games).

It's hard to put into words how awesome this is ^_^;
We've often joked around about Jin being in a Chun-Li costume in her original design art, but man, it is so awesome to see her in complete costume. It's like a twofer- Jin art and Chun Li art all at the same time! And it's awesome enough for two too. Really nicework getting her qipao to curve around her stomach and make it look realistic. Saburo has spent much time bemoaning the difficulty of putting a rotund girl in a qipao, but you've pulled it off really well.
Heh, Chun Li's spiked gauntlets are ridiculously massive, though. Good thing Jin opted for the less hazardous ones.
Emi's also great as Ibuki, I especially like the attention to detail on all her 'ickle toes. It's hard to get some artists to draw legs let alone toes, so it's great to see someone go the full mile and have accurate attention to detail. It's just a bit of a shame that Emi and Ibuki have disparate personalities, as this one doesn't get the synergy going so well. Since Ibuki's less iconic, I didn't cotton on to who this one was immediately. Still, a really sublime drawing too.
I have to admit, I had to ask Saburo who Katy was, and then look her up to find out just who this "Blue Mary" is. ^_^;; What can I say? I'm not an SNK Man. But I must say, the costume matches all the pictures I saw perfectly, and it's a dead ringer for Katy too. Ahhh... just love ^_^
One utterlyminor quible on the accuracy front- while you got the belly size hierarchy right, there'd be more of a gap between sizes. Katy would probably be a little bit smaller, Emi could certainly be bigger, and Jin... might be bigger too. But it's really not a big deal, we have enough trouble keeping their sizes straight ourselves.
Totally awesome work. I think I have to update my watchlist to watch your scraps as well... can't believe I almost missed this one...

First of all: thanks a lot. To have positive reviews from you and SaburoX makes me very happy.
Chun Li certainly wears big spikes; I also though that Jin's should be smaller, and perhaps even be made of a softer material ^_-
The fact is that I wasn't thinking too much about personalities when I had Emi to dress as Ibuki (and I don't really know Ibuki that much). I just wanted to make her cosplay a Japanese character, but most of those I know of would have been really difficult, since they dress in revealing outfits and the result would have been a bit too risque for the situation I wanted to portray. So, instead of making Emi blush like a tomato, I decided to go the opposite way: give her something that would cover her rather well, and try to make a different joke. I'll put that on a speech ballon.
My original idea for Katy was B. Jennet/Jenny (SNK as well), but Blue Mary seemed better since they have similar hair and big belts are an important part of their characters ^_^.
Regarding belly sizes, I'm afraid I let my preferences get involved and decided for less gap between them, after all, just small diferences in diameter can mean a lot when converted to volume. However, I think I can still work a bit with sizes before the picture is finished; at least on Katy, I also think she might be a bit too big in my drawing.

Belly sizes aren't such a big deal, so don't feel guilty about letting your preferences enter into the equation. Not every aspect can be perfect.

Ibuki, eh? I was thinking of a Mai outfit slightly tweaked. I guess without the face mask, it's hard to tell. I've never liked the girl anyways (Ibuki. She's just too...annoying.)

And well, I had to choose Ibuki for the lack of a female fighter with "full" clothing; I really don't know Ibuki too well, perhaps I would have avoided her if I did. The only other character that I think I could have used is Rimururu (Samurai Shodown/Spirits), but her personality doesn't match that of Emi either.
