Description Continuation of my vintage early 1900's skins, pelts, and hides. This one was an eBay find about 6 months ago if not later. I had never handled a kangaroo but had seen plenty of hides. While new skins are always nice, I almost prefer the old ones with a little history. This particular roo had been in the sellers grandfathers attic for some good time after the fella passed. The seller was going through and had no use for it and put it up for auction.

Roo leather is very very tough and the pliable texture of this one still amazes me. The fur is unbelieveably soft and is still holding strong, barely shedding at all. The tail is bright and vibrant. A real treat of a find this one was <3

While this particular pelt will not be used for taxidermy, it will be used to further my studies of nature, anatomy, and fur coloration/length that I can then put forth into my costumes, working things from life to create a form of life with faux materials. As with all of my pelts, this one will be handled gently and respectively.

As with all of my pelts, I collect various color variations of different breeds not for the collectors value, but for the educational and artistic value. While pictures can be great aids, nothing has helped me greater with fur colors/patterning than a pelt seen in life, of which then I can translate later into a costume.

If you wish to leave hateful comments and demonstrations that you have not read any of m actual intentions or how this fox came to be/its future uses, it will only be ignored. Why? I have no time to give to such topics that only waste time. If you are inquisitive and wish to present your thoughts in a modest and mature manner, I always enjoy an insightful conversation. If you do not wish to conduct yourself in a respectable manner, we have no reason for conversation so please take your words elsewhere as they will fall upon deaf ears.

They're very rare to find with all parts, face and all. I've seen maybe two wallaby though that were complete but that's it

With as plentiful as they are in AUS, I'm sure they are still skinned by someone, even if it happens to be roadkill. Roo leather is incredibly strong and is used in many sorts of leather work that requires strength (such as jesses and hoods for Falconry) then roo hide is used.

there just isnt much roo stuff on DA (the only site i stalk)

i used to really wish i lived in AUS, there is so much wildlife and open space, not as desired anymore, more of a childhood dream. i wish i could check out roo leather for myself, it woulds like it would be very durable

To give you an idea. I was given a strip, 3 inches in length, 1/8th inch wide. I was asked to break it and after much pulling, tugging, twisting, and even knawing, I could not for a good while XD
