Description
My second (decent) traditional portrait of Chris Hemsworth, this time as Thor. I know I haven't uploaded for awhile now, & I had been trying to work on this drawing for the longest time. Life got in the way, so that's what took me so long.
I wanted to experiment with more color, but I'm still scared of coloring faces. So I did more of a "color splash effect" & I'm actually happy with how it turned out! The cape & armor was fun drawing, & it's my favorite part of this piece! The hair & face...not so fun. Chris, why do you have to be so hard to draw? Strathmore Smooth Bristol Paper
Tools: Derwent graphite pencils, mechanical pencil, colored pencils (various brands), Sakura Gelly Roll pen, kneaded eraser, Tombow Mono Zero eraser (where has this been all my life?! I love it!), blending stumps, tissue, & a paintbrush.
Time: 20 or more hours? I lost track. Hope you all like it!

I love the touch of color.
I often want to put it some on my drawings but I'have the Faber castell color pencils and I don't know how make it so smooth like this ...

I have Faber Castell pencils too. I love them! ^^ There are a couple tricks to making the color smooth & blended. I used smooth bristol paper for this drawing, which helps. I also recently discovered that using a white colored pencil over the main colors blends them & makes them very smooth looking. All this time & I thought the white pencils were worthless.

I heard about a pencil without color in Faber Castell collection and a gum pencil. Do you use it too ?

I've never heard of a gum pencil & I've only heard of a Copic marker without color. A pencil without color would probably make an excellent blender as well. I just have my Polychromos, which are enough because they blend very easily together, unlike any other colored pencils I've tried.

This drawing puts my try to shame! Haha! This is so great, so realistic! really cool effect to only use colors on his armor, considered doing the same but I was too scared that I'd ruin it..

wow, your artworks are getting better! I really like the tone and realism in his armour! I've never drawn Chris Hemsworth before and everyone says he's hard to draw, I'll have to give a crack at it someday
His hair looks amazing here it looks like you can actually stroke your fingers through it hehehhe

I don't know what it is about his face that makes him so hard to draw. But yes, you should draw him! A challenge is always great!
