So I had a solo Dekker mission, a one-on-one with the DM, last night to introduce Dekker into the world of assassins, since I planned to have him take assassin at next level. It consisted mainly of lounging on my bed because who needs tables (which isn't good for dice rolls xD) and my brain ceasing to function quite a lot haha xD

And after blundering through things wildly and failing to talk to anyone, he killed a bunch of an assassin group he was aiming to get to know. Which wasn't what was supposed to happen. But it turned out that his magical talking sickle that he's emotionally attached to, like whoa, was one of the assassin group's 'super special' weapons that contributed to it's creation - there's a dagger, the "Needle", which the leader of the group has, and Dek has the sickle, the "Carver", which he bought off a guy in a tavern xD. It was taken from him briefly but he hunted and killed the guy who took it. Said dead guy's partner then nearly killed Dekker, but the magical sickle stopped him, because it's got work to do with Dekker ;D Then after a little bit of creepiness, because the sickle talks in haikus and that makes it more creepy (I had to write one to break out of a magical paralysis before he got stabbed >.>), it had him mark himself as one of the assassins, granting him access to a level in assassin, knowledge and magic. It took me a good while to decide where Dekker was going to carve their symbol, a hand missing an index finger, into himself >.> Especially as the other players have no idea that this has happened yet haha. 

Since the DM is one of my BFFs, he knows that Dekker means a crap ton to me and I try to engage with the story as much as I can, he was happy to go that extra mile C: I foresee a little irritation in the others, but they'll get their chance for something similar, I'm sure. 


As for the picture, there's not much more to add. Besides wtf is halfling anatomy. I always have trouble deciding how to make Dekker look different, but eh. His torso is a little shorter and smaller compared to his head than normal? xD And I had the dilema of trying to work out how ~ripped~ he was. He's not exactly strong, but by god he's fit and lithe. He's strong enough to be a dancer/gymnast, but when it comes to lifting things, he's useless. And yet, he needs arm muscles to tumble about and climb as well as he does. Catch 22 when working with stats that don't always add up in the 'real world' ;D I like to believe he's above average in fitness, especially so for a little halfling ;D

His face also bothers me a little, if only because it looks so wrong being... normal xD 


I ship Dekker and his sickle. It's the only one who understands him. They will go far together ;D

I like this face in this ^^.
But then, I was never a fan of eyeshadow haha.
Maybe this was one of his private moments, when he didn't have his makeup on for the others?

It certainly feels like, after all that stuff that happened in your solo session, he might feel more secure/not care about his appearance as much.
On the other hand, I can only imagine what's going on in his head right now - thinking of ways he can prank/freak out his team-mates hahaha!

Oh, and good luck convincing the paladin that he's not evil now! XD

Haha, I like that idea ;D He's got a lot to think about after what happened, so he's going to be in flux for a while. That explains why he hasn't said anything to our group after about a week has passed since it happened - we just hadn't done the solo session, but since it was supposed to have taken place we just carried on with the campaign without detailing anything.

It'll come out in the next session, I'm sure, though how much, I don't know. I don't want to give a lot away, because you wouldn't announce you're an assassin/have ties with them xD But I know that one player will get huffy with things being concealed, so it's a little difficult >.>

Technically he's not evil, his alignment's been saved as per DM ruling, but it's under 'not changed YET' so who knows when it might take a dive and the paladin may become a health hazard xD To be fair though, Dekker isn't evil, so it would be wrong for his alignment to slip - I feel that he just has assassin skills, not so much the nasty personality associated with them. So he uses the abilities his sickle bestowed on him to help out and kill the baddies with more finesse ... not random guys xD

Hmm, yeah it is an interesting situation to manage!

I agree, I don't think Dekker is evil .
I'm just not sure the paladin will see things the same way when he finds out about Dekker's new skills XD.

I really like your realism in terms of bodies... sooo nice.

I actually have the same issues with Elock's character design, since he's also an assassin.

It's hard finding a balance between having muscle and being parkour/dance ready. Looking through football player bodies have helped a lot. I've also tried to look at gymnasts, but I feel football players have that stamina, agility, and possible flexibility that I need in terms of muscle mass.

It's the best tip I can offer. That, and looking at male parkour athletes. From there, I pick and choose the muscle tonality based on the BODY type he's got. As you may know, men also have different body types to choose from

That's super helpful, actually. I've looked at a few body types/different musculatures, but never really went anywhere with it. I've just been making it up in my head xD I think the trouble is I want to try and stick relatively close to stats/numbers that I have written on his character sheet, but they contrast a little too much to be realistic - eg, he's a pro at 'tumbling' so he'd need to be pretty strong in the limbs for cartwheels and the like, but his 'strength' is as low as you can get without being penalised. Statistics don't translate to bodies haha xD I imagine him quite slinky, a stealthy grace, light on the feet, cat-like when sneaking but super bouncy when walking normally, so he needs flexibility and at least some muscle mass... /thinking out loud xD

But you're right, I ought to look at a few more diverse types. Window shopping for the perfect body... Could be worse things to look at xD

I wish I could help more with the stats, but I know nothing about tabletop, sorry D':

But yes, design-wise, that's the best I could offer. You don't HAVE to mimic a specific body type, but maybe meshing some examples will give you the perfect body. Actually, male parkour bodies are very thin but have muscle to them, since you know, being able to carry your own weight can give you some muscle.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Too much muscle slows someone down, so not the best option for Dekker xD

Thanks ;D I'm so picky when it comes to placing things on characters haha xD I wanted it somewhere that can be obvious if I want it to be, but easy to conceal if I can't be bothered to draw it xD
