This was kind of fun? xD Something different... of someone not so different. Ah Dekker C:This was originally in black and red - the background being red and the highlights light red, but I tested it out in monochrome and preferred it because 1) it 's more Dekker-y and 2) it doesn't blind you looking at it xD
I also really want to try and do more... dynamic/stretch-y poses with Dekker because he's a flexible little butt who's lithe and nimble, but I can't really portray that through portrait after portrait xD
Ref'd for the lighting/pose, which gave inspiration in the first place - if I have no idea what to do, but I want to do something, practising from a ref is my fall back C: Felt weird starting with a black base and adding highlights, but good practice with the lighting ref C:

Stunning, as usual! The lighting is quite subtly Caravagesque... me gusta.
Just a quick suggestion (you may already know where to go, rendering me bossy and redundant, but oh well) - if you want to get ideas for more dancer-like poses for Dekker, I suggest finding the website of a professional photographer who's taken pictures of modern dancers and/or acrobats, so as to get an idea of the real-life dynamics. Nicola Selby's photography is probably the best, since he focuses on the visceral, flowing, non-flashy elements of movement (Here's his website! ) Another particularly excellent study is Eric Murphy's photographs of male dancers in the Eliot Smith Company. (And here's that collection! ) Hope this helps!

Oh! This is brilliantly helpful, thank you! Even if I don't use any of the images as references, they certainly can give me ideas (I write with Dekker more than I draw and sometimes stutter a little over the degree of his flexibility/dancing skills so images help!). Either way, they're definitely going into my inspiration folder.
