1992 METATISIC

Brace!! I’m about to throughly embarrass myself again

Taking a small break from my convention art work. My friends, say hello to yours truly and her vintage, original 80's Transformers fan art ....Give it up. *lol*

I was 10-years old in 1985 ...eleven in 1986, and so forth. My old childhood art tends to send me into a severe fit of the giggles, but all apparent corniness aside --with their age spots, fade marks and all-- I am actually glad that I still have possession of these relics of my elementary school days when the show was so new and still airing ‘new’ episodes on TV. I get to see just how very far I have come as an artist, how I have, and still continue, to improve my skills. That will always be very special.

Also and more so, some of these retro works I have include original drawings/designs of a few OC characters --Metatisic and Blizzard, etc.-- both of whom I continue to draw to this day!

FEATURING HERE: In 1990, I returned Metatisic back to original '85 design scheme. This 1992 illustration was one of, if not the final time I would draw the character until nostalgia struck me to return him and his story in 2003 to a whole new internet generation

Pronounced as, meta - (tie) - sik., The root word, ‘Meta’ means ’above, or beyond’ Such as beyond; transcending; more comprehensive: (metapsychology) At a higher state of development: (metazoan) While ‘tisic’ is an alternate form of ‘titan’. It can also translate as referring to ‘consumptive’ which means ’tending to consume; destructive’ Quite literally his name translates as, ‘A god above others’

The son of Rom, creator of Megatron, and a principal character of the G1 Metatisic saga all in one, second only from Blizzard, Metatisic remains my eldest, consistently used TF fan character since he was first created in 1985. Honestly, I can think of no personal character of mine who went through more of a gauntlet of changes than Metatisic had (with the years of 1985-1989 being the most) This was largely due to, and following the movie where I thought, for whatever reason, that it was important that Metatisic should 'keep with the times' and look more closely to Galvatron rather than like Megatron. I'm glad I no longer have that mind set. Metatisic is an ancient ‘con —crude, rough, heavy ..a mech of his time and he should look the part. He returned to his original 1985 construction scheme in 1990. Contrary to the general first opinion, Metatisic’s black crown helmet design was based on the Decepticon crown of leadership that Starscream wore briefly in the movie as opposed to Galvatron’s helm.

NOTE: At 24+ years old, these drawings have suffered from age and storage. As such, I opted not to enhance, fix, or repair ANY of their damage so that you may view them in all their honest, vintage wonder.
