Description With the transformation of the Confederacy of Independent Systems into Tarkin’s Galactic Dominion, one of the integral processes undertaken was the standardization of its warships and starfighters. Replacing all of the vast (and costly) array of fighters constructed by various CIS manufacturers with Sienar Systems Engineering’s TIE Standard, the Dominion could standardize its pilot training, capabilities, and starfighter tactics into establishing a cost-efficient and effective force. At the time of its fielding, the TIE Standard was sufficiently-armed, faster and more maneuverable than many of its Republic opponents, easily outclassing the V-Wing, Y-Wing, and Z-95 Headhunter.

Incom’s release and production of the T-65A X-Wing would end that superiority, boasting stronger shields, greater weapons strength and maneuverability. Following the Battle of Alderaan, squadrons equipped with the X-Wing devastated Dominion fighter units, which in-turn made easy prey of its capital warships. Even with the bombing of Fresia and reduced production, there was little the Dominion could do to stem its losses…

That was until just three years after the Battle of Alderaan. Raith Sienar green-lit the production of a more advanced line of TIE fighter, something that matched the speed of the Republic’s Eta-4, but outmaneuvered and matched the T-65A/B’s firepower. The result was the TIE/Ac, or TIE Ace, a design that would remain unmatched until FreiTek’s T-68A E-Wing, and the T-65A/B’s successor, the T-65C X-Wing Plus. Due to its expense, it was initially distributed only to elite units such as Death and Black Squadrons. But by the Battle of Endor, at least two squadrons of the TIE/Ac were assigned aboard most star destroyer starfighter compliments.

Awesome work by Adam again! I could easily see this in the normal GFFA EU timeline, as it looks very much like a slightly beefed up version of the regular Interceptor - maybe used by the Empire under Thrawn's control...

Unfortunately this also lets the design down a bit, as part of me feels that it's not different enough to be part of your alternate TL -- particularly as it lacks the circular cockpit window of your TIE Standard, or the older Republic TIE. I'd recommend using a modified version of your Standard cockpit, to reinforce the impression of a design family.

My only other crit is that the missile launcher ports seem a little small, but that could be just me e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

The TIE Ace was intended to depart from the main TIE line, as it was designed after the fall of the CIS/emergence of Tarkin's Galactic Dominion. But I wanted it to retain enough feel from the original TIE Interceptor for viewers to know that this is its parallel universe counterpart. In that regard, I'm very pleased with Adam's work!

This is a fun design. An obvious evolution of the TIE Interceptor and certainly a potent one, adding missiles to an already deadly craft certainly increases its killing capacity.

I do wonder at the choice of designation however as calling it 'Ace' seems more than a little tacky.

Despite that the design itself seems solid and faithful to what we expect to see from TIE designs as a whole. I can see this design either being issued to elite squadrons or perhaps if doctrine is different being used as a mainstay fighter to counter more potent craft in use by opposition forces.

In terms of the art it is up to the usual standard we've come to expect from this particular artist with effective lighting and very impressive blur-motion effects on the other craft in the background.

The Ace designation is to give the craft its infinities setting feel and to imply that the craft was assigned to elite units, and later, only about two of a star destroyer's six to nine squadrons. Plus, I like to differentiate between this setting and the EU/canon whenever I can.

Certainly a fair point to make for your own work's distinctiveness.

Whilst I admit it does look intimidating, I can't shake the feeling that it's just a variation of the TIE Interceptor, just with extra cannons on the wings and missile launchers under the canopy. However, I do still like it, it's able to strike fear into the enemy and have the firepower to do so. The design, whilst is basically a modified Interceptor, does seem to also take inspiration from the TIE Advanced X1.

All in all, whilst it does hit a little to close to home, it's still a worthy fighter for any faction to strike hard and fast.

It is implied to be the TIE Interceptor of this infinities setting, so it will appear to be variation of said fighter. I'm pleased that you like it.

So I am not a expert on TIE designations but I think this looks like a TIE/IN Interceptor.
I am not sure what the AC stands for to be fair but it certainly looks just like the TIE series. I am not a expert on what I guess is a TTRPG either but I can see that this is a base of some kind for that.
As for the appearance of the picture, I can't complain. It is beautifully detailed and on the point as far as the design of the TIE series goes, not that I am a fan of that design family, and I am pretty sure everyone knows why.
I must deduct a few points due to the mentioned similarity to the TIE/IN class but I can't complain about the depiction here, besides, TIE series ships are generally only separated by their wing configuration anyway as far as appearances go.

Ooooh, I *like* this!  A heavier, (and I assume, I equally fast?) version of the Interceptor that looks like it'd do some damage? I'm in!

It sounds like your version of the Empire is transitioning towards striking a much better balance between cost-effectiveness and capability in its TIE ranks than the canon one did (swathes of cheap, poorly performing TIE basics, a few Interceptors & Bombers, and anything decent reserved for the upper echelons and the EU....), I heartily approve!

It's a commissioned piece and notably differently than the TIE Interceptor. That being said, this is a fan-work, I don't own the IP, and it must be made clear that I'm not selling this as a print or otherwise.
