On a second view, it seems impossible to correct the angle of the lamppost without causing the building on the right to appear crooked.  In this case the actual problem is a slight vertical perspective distortion, caused by shooting the photo from a low angle.  It is possible to correct this using the Lens Distortion tool in Photoshop, but maybe not possible in Picasa.  If you have access to Photoshop, this is an excellent tutorial:  www.photoshopessentials.com/ph…

that is so cool you know, with you analyzing this photo so carefully. I do not have access to Photoshop though and sure would be interesting to see the result of that coprrection
