striking and beautiful. i think maybe the letters in "LIB" are a little too dominant but that's not really much of an issue cuz the overall piece is so amazing and colorful.

Sorry I didn't comment sooner on this piece Tom. I think this is probably the best piecce I've seen you do. I like some of your other stuff but this one is simply fantastic. I'm glad to see you're still using Shreve Green.

Awww... I always thought that library was pretty in person, but now that I see it in your painting, I really like it even more ^_^

... You know that library is a fall out shelter, too >.>?

(PS: I didnt know any super great artists resided so close to here! Glad to see they do!)

(Sorry I didn't reply sooner I was in savannah GA last week)
thanks, I plan on doing a series of paintings dealing with the architecture in the area...but right now I might be doing a mural for the Franklin library so it might slow the production of more "City in Abstraction" paintings (the painting of Oil City’s library is hanging in the Monarch Park cafe across the street from the library along with some of my other paintings downstairs)
I hang out there a lot so the owner lets me hang some of my art there.
If you come in town check it out and you can see it in all its “glory”....or the details that can’t be seen online

bomb shelter yeah, the sign next to the door gives it away.....but they use to have food stored there for that but they converted it for storage of old magazines or something...Well that’s what the library's old janitor said while I was taking photos of it (she's the meter maid now))
I notice the building in downtown Franklin has the same sign on it....the fear that some country would waste a bomb on a depressed area such as this. Just like I remember when I was in school and 1991 during the first gulf war when some students brought gas masks to school ....how pathetic and fearful people can be thinking this area has any impact on the world (country).

Tom

amazing! I love the colours! Where did you learn how to mix and blend colours like that? It's so beautiful!!!

shreve In reply to twisted-soul [2004-03-23 19:45:44 +0000 UTC]

i have been painting sence i was 9 years. went to college. but mixing paint has always been an internal on the spot decitions. i'll pre-construct a painting but when i go to paint I always an evaluating previous colors. and i also add layers of colors.

The perspective gives movements to this piece, leaning, stretching; moving away from yet still has that feeling of being connected. I love the color scheme you use, like a fairly land with a touch of circus colors, more vibrant yet a burn out one at that. Faded, and decaying.

This art is just amazing. I'm impressed by the colors and broken perspectives. I'm going to advice your work to Daily Deviations

Hope you get it. As I think you deserve it.

go around your town and ask if they would be interested in having an exhibition....because I took a look at your work and you do have a talent....you just need to put forth an effort on promoting your art.....don’t forget to and frame the work even inexpensive black frames from Wal-Mart will do (I spent to much time and money for collage for a piece of paper and to figure the same thing)

Hmm, cool--I oughta try that once school load dies a bit, lol... actually, one of my friends suggested selling my work to tourists at tourist TRAPS through mass production. I think he said his friend merely photocopied his dinky little doodle (ALOT), got some poster boards and cellophane or serran wrap (spelling?), then cut and stick them on cut out posterboard and wrapped in that cellophane... he SOLD ALOT, LOL... Might try that this summer... and your idea about asking around to hang my work too.

Ooh, and thanks for checking out my stuff too! lol
