Twilight: Uh-huh. I decided to wear my socks to bed last night. I, uh... hehehe... had a really sexy dream.

Twilight: It was... sigh... stupendous. I was in bed with a buff Earth Stallion, telling me how smart and pretty I was, and telling me he's waited all his life for a mare like me.~

Nyx: It was a little scary. At first, I thought Mother was being attacked.
Twilight: *blushes, chuckles* So, how did YOU sleep, Applejack? Did you have any trouble adjusting to your new body?
Applejack: Nope! Ah was snug as a pug in a big, fluffy rug! Ah was unsure at first, but Ah kinda like mah new powers. Gettin' to fly with Rainbow and mah other flyin' friends is awfully dandy... Ah don't need a lantern no more when Ah need to hit the bathroom at night... These here fangs make eatin' lunch go by a lot faster, and tastier... And mah magic powers make work on the farm easier fer us all! Ah've had more free time than Ah know what to do with, haha!
Nyx: You look really pretty this way, Applejack!
Applejack: Ya think so, puddin'?
Nyx: Hay yes! ...I just wish they could've come under... better circumstances.
Applejack: Sigh... eeyup… *droops ears* Ah'm… so sorry fer what Ah tried to do, Nyx... A-Ah just...
Nyx: *interrupts Applejack by hugging her neck* It's okay. I understand. But at least good things came out of it. Not only did we get all 6 Elements of Harmony back, but Alighast has been slain, the Bat Ponies are free, the Blackhorns were defeated, and Mario finally has what he needs to return to his world!
Applejack: *wipes eye* ...Yer right, Nyx. Ah decided to make the most of it. Ah admit, bein' a Batticorn is kinda fun.
Twilight: Even though you're a Bat-Alicorn now, Applejack, at heart, you'll still be that big-hearted Earth Mare I've grown to love. And I sure am going to miss Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Daisy, Goomdee, Shyloh [a Spear Guy OC of mine], and Hammy [a Hammer Bro. OC of mine] when they're gone. They're like part of the family now...
Applejack: Y-Yeah... Well... *shakes head* Ah'm sorry, Twi, but Ah'm losin' focus over yer messy mane... and those cute lil' socks.~ Do ya know where Ah can find a pair of mah own, in case Ah end up gettin' a stud fer mahself?~
Twilight: They're easy to find, especially if you visit Canterlot. Rarity might be able to help...

Like I said before, I never read Past Sins, so I have no idea what Nyx is like, either. =3
That said, my own interpretation of her is: A filly with a strong sense of justice and the heart of a lion, willing to fight to the death to protect her friends and the world, even at a young age. The Royal Guard could use more ponies like her.
