I had started a Hudson River school-esque inspired piece, drawing mainly from Bierstadt, but it was kicking my butt bad. So I did lighting studies instead. Only the big 3/4ths piece has any refinement, but eh.ΒFor those curious, Contre Jour is French for "Against Daylight" and is... pretty much that. A subject placed against a bright backdrop. Similar to the edge lighting, but enough different to warrant its own practice.

Nice job, that makes me want to go back and redo my old Celestia bust when I first started drawing a few years ago.
