Description Mrs SilverEagleOwl spotted this tree, apparently the victim of a lightning strike, on her way to work one morning. The charred base of the trunk looks like a wolf silhouette (especially early in the morning) so she named it 'The Timber Wolf.' The next Saturday, we got up early to get the best light for these pictures. Shortly after I got these shots, the farmer who owns this pasture soaked the tree in gasoline and burned it down.

Thanks, Violet! I'll tell her that... She was the one who wanted me to post the series. So many people have enjoyed it that I'm really glad I did.

She has a good eye for things like that. I think it has to do with the fantasy novels she loves to read. The morning she spotted the tree, the sunlight was hitting the 'eye' at just the right angle to make it look like the menacing glare of a wolf.

This is hilarious & amazing at the same time, so I 'm not the only one who sees shapes in the most unusual of places.

No, you're not! I think all you need is the eye of an artist... My wife spotted this tree while driving to work early one morning; the sun was at a low angle and made the 'eye' glow. The rest was pure imagination.

That could explain a few things, but no. Come to think of it though, she does kinda look like that before her first morning coffee! (Boy, am I gonna be in trouble when I get home!)
