Jo couldn't sleep.
She'd had a busy day at school.. Professor Snape had yelled at her and then the Slytherins had teased her about it all the way through Herbology. And Herbology was so boring that Jo couldn't even take her mind off the taunting. A well-placed pot of Devil's Snare near the Slytherins and a lecture from Professor Sprout later, Jo had been very ready to head to her dorm tonight.

But she just couldn't sleep. Luckily she'd learnt a few things from Harry and knew of a secret passageway just down the hall and around the corner from the Gryffindor dormitory. The Fat Lady was gone, probably drinking wine in another painting someplace so she was free to creep around to the passageway, that luckily led out near Hagrid's hut. Jo found Godric in his usual place, with Hagrid's hippogriff herd. She quietly spoke the transfiguration spell, watched his wings grow, tacked him up and they took to the sky.

It was a cloudy night so Godric flew up above the clouds, where the full moon was beautifully bright.
Jo was startled by a sudden high-pitched noise to the right of her, accompanied by rhythmic wind gusts. Since there was nothing visible beside her, she knew it must be a thestral. Luna had told her that they're quite friendly creatures so she wasn't afraid, and again she wished she could see the horse-like creatures.

Thanks everyone who took my poll on how a person rides a pegasus! But I couldn't work it out either way, so this style of riding looks much more comfortable ^^
