Description Made by ~SisstreDaethe

Full Title for those who're curious: "The Lunatics Have Taken Over the Asylum"- It couldn't fit so I shortened it best I could.

I've always wanted to make some good textures for myself, and for you guys to use as well, and I think I've achieved just that!

I made these from old pictures of rust and concrete, then added colour in Picasa, and used layers in Photoshop to finish up the job. Quite a lot of work, but I think the results have been well worth it.

Enjoy

I really like this one
I wonder if I can put it to good use
it would be something different I expect for me
but thank you so much for posting it

Well best of inspirations

ditto dear
Thanks, typo's gee I got bags of them
I really hate it when I type the opposite of what I mean like use a "would" instead of a "wouldn't"
I do that a lot

Haha. I usually read over so typos usually don't get me very often unless I'm hurrying, which I must admit I've been doing a lot lately. Shouldn't even be on dA right now. haha.

naughty girl
(glad you are thought)
yeah I do a lot of late been like dyslexic
with my writing
really I should properly proof read but I dont and even when I read through I still miss a lot
oh for you it probably important you dont !
gee nothing worse I think in you writing a report or something and miss write your view point etc by a would were a wouldn't should be
so glad to hear you dont make many to start with

Oh. I always reread stuff for school, and usually I do reread here too, but sometimes with so many comments to respond to, after going through the first 20, I stop proof reading or grow a bit liberal with how closely I read everything.

yeah I know what you mean I use to get to the point were my hands when on strive and refused to type anymore..
(well actually not really joking on that they would get tired)
so yep proof reading was worn thin long before that

That used to happen to me when I wrote manully- like pen and paper- That's why I don't write anymore unless I absolutely have to.

yeah funny I haven't written in ages really
isn't it strange how you tend not to notice that as you use a KB now more often them not
do you think we will forget how to write???

Its funny but I used to be able to tell time at a glance with an analog face watch or clock
but since digital and a lot around me being digital clocks etc
When I look at an analog face now
I have to stop and think a bit..

analog has the ability to present both min max and were you are in between with reference to both ..digital dont its a number so you have to think of you points of reference
(best way I can explain it)

I guess its that old Chinese saying..
"a pictures worth a thousand words"

you look at an image your brain just computes it so much quicker
(part of the reason of mind mapping [link] etc, I suppose really)

A KB? Sorry, you lost me on that one.
Haha. No, there's too many instances of signing names and such to forget entirely, but I suppose for some people it isn't impossible.

Haha. Same thing with me and that damn clock. I do write though when it's Math, mostly because it sinks in more than when I type it, but I'm almost just as good as typing out the mathematical formulas and finding all the greek symbols.

sent you a note
yeah true we still do some writing
me mostly.... type two finger fast

me no idea were or how to do formulas on a computer..except basic like 2*2=4

I hated maths so never bother to learn it
yet I can work a lot of what I need of for electronics...except the real hight stuff
but thats engineering level stuff.

SisstreDaethe In reply to starlight2infinity [2010-02-21 13:34:17 +0000 UTC]

I got it

Haha. It took some learning but I figured it out.

I hate Math, too, but I don't have much of a choice at the moment. Engineering Math is hard. Really hard, although some of it, I do in my course.

true on math you dont have much choice
I now think of it as a precise way of thinking about reality in an abstract way..

Math should I think be from an early age tought in an applied way...like actually get kids involved in building a small bridge or something
how do we work out this and that
you know what I mean..

it would have made more sense to me then and I probably would have liked it ...but abc algebra just didn't make a whole lot of sense..

SisstreDaethe In reply to starlight2infinity [2010-03-07 15:37:44 +0000 UTC]

Ha. That's quite a definition.

That's true, but at that age it's slightly irrelevant. Kids that age have a hard enough time grasping NORMAL math...

Algebra has always been and will always be a pain in the ass. I hate simultaneous equations. I hate factorising. The only thing I don't have a problem with is transposition- solving for x.

well I think that best describes it

oh well maybe I should have used fruit or something
we used to use coloured blocks it actually added a physical reality to the maths just got the name of them
CUISENAIRE RODS I think is what they are called
yep thats them [link]

yeah on that no idea
I did learn it but quickly forgot it except in what I need for electronics
but the real structure of HOW to do thing I forgotten what little I did learn.

When I was at school I just couldn't see the relevance ...do now thought

Oh, in pre-school we didn't use numbers. We used fruits and stick people. I never saw numbers without apples and stick people until 1st grade. I was not happy!!! LOL

I still hate it, but I've done well in my Math courses. As & Bs.

starlight2infinity In reply to SisstreDaethe [2010-03-09 23:16:04 +0000 UTC]

yeah I guess after that is when we lose interest
no fruit or stick people...

Good to hear
its one of those you mighten like it but we do need some levels of it in life

Sadly a lot of young one got no idea on maths like I hated it but I still know a hell of a lot more then a lot today do
I dont like calculators in schools at early ages
I think they should never be used until you know what your doing as in understand it

Maths is not about difficulty its about method to my way of understanding
Its how to put your problem into an equation
not how many decimal points you can work it to.

That I think is the bit that is lost after fruits and stick people

you are told to learn this parrot fashion with no real use being applied to it for you.

ergo my statement
a precision way of thinking about reality...in an abstract way..

wish Id have realized that when I was 10
maths might have been more fun

SisstreDaethe In reply to starlight2infinity [2010-03-13 13:43:22 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I'm guilty of the calculator- addiction. I do the simplest of problems on it during a test because under nervous conditions, I'll miscalculate.

I understand its value, but I still hate it. The degree of Math that we learn has very little to do with my life at the moment. It's for career fields that I'm not going into... so... such a headache to do it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

starlight2infinity In reply to SisstreDaethe [2010-03-15 02:50:17 +0000 UTC]

oh nothing wrong with them
its just I think you need to know the reasons as in structure before shooting off with a calc
bit hard to explain but I guess its like saying a multiplication can be just a big addition like 5X4 is 5+5+5+5 or a division is really how many time something will go into another

you do math often enough you tend to learn to were the ball park figure is going to be so you just use the calc to get it accurately.. even in algebra etc you will tend to get ideas of were the number will fall
it helps cause then if a calc show some number that dont make sense you know you did it wrong...
but if you just learn it parrot fashion you dont tend to learn where a number will fall..

like I said hard but I think you get what I mean
by understanding what your doing you know if its with in a certain parameter of where it should be

yeah I have to agree some maths just has no bearing on what we are doing but at some point maybe useful..still do we really need the extra headache of it if we are most like never going to use in what we have chosen as a career path..Agree with you on that
