Description Since I uploaded this to Tumblr yesterday, I decided to put it here as well. When I got a new sketchbook a few weeks back, the first thing I did was doodle thirty different retrosaurs - an archetype defined by several people I know on here and Tumblr as prehistoric reptiles derived from outdated conceptions about dinosaurs - for  TyrantisTerror ’s 30-Day Retrosaur Challenge . You can learn more about retrosaurs and their general taxonomy over here:

As someone who encourages scientific accuracy in dinosaur depictions I heartily approve of this concept, because it cements the scaly lizard-like "dinosaurs" everyone loves as movie monsters and not, y'know, what dinosaurs really looked like. It also helps that they're stated to be descended from a different group of archosaur, the pseudosuchian clade which is ancestral to modern crocodilians - a highly underrated group of prehistoric BAMFs which don't get nearly enough love in most dinosaur media.

Since TT's concept of retrosaurs as an archetype is intended to be public domain, I'll probably see if I can implement the retrosaur archetype in my own monster-world fiction. It could be possible that in an alternate continuity the pseudosuchians took over the late Triassic world, sure, but I plan for monsters based on accurate dinosaurs to coexist with retrosaurs, so maybe they originated in different regions of a different plane of existence, transplanted there from various Earth time periods, and have diversified in unison since then. I'll probably think over my own implementation of retrosaurs once I actually get the worldbuilding for this world down in the first place.

Anyway, enjoy! You can also check out individual descriptions for all thirty of these beasties in the five-spread Tumblr version:

Can you give them scientific names? Or at least the scientific name's translation to English?
