Looks like Pippa's back in action! We decided to let her try out dressage, since she has such a lovely natural gait.

"Wow, this show is even bigger than it was last year!" Charlotte exclaimed in awe as she turned the trailer into the field at Firelight Stables.
"Yep! I didn't know that was even possible!" Gwen replied. She turned to look at Courtney, and Lily, who were in the back seat, both fast asleep. Catherine and Meredith had rented a car and were following along behind the trailer.
Though most of the horses were in the guest stables, the field was packed with trailers of all shapes and sizes. In Mystic Seaside Stables' 6-horse trailer, which was only used for large shows like this one, London, Casa, Pippa, Nellie, Sahille, and Skip were becoming impatient. The long drive from the airport in London had taken a toll on them all. Charlotte, Gwen, Courtney, and Meredith were all going to be riding in the show, and Meredith's older sister, Catherine, had come along as well. Despite Meredith's pleas, her parents had insisted on Catherine coming along, since Meredith was only 14. Courtney had also brought her 7-year-old daughter, Lily, who had begged to come and watch her mother compete.
After a long nights' sleep, the 5 of them were up early to take advantage of the spare day they had before the competition started. Gwen and Meredith were the first ones in the arena that morning, both working on finalizing their routine. Meredith and London were to compete in Au Natural, a class in which no tack is allowed. London's responsiveness to aids had improved tremendously since Meredith started working bridleless and bareback with her. Gwen, who was riding Skip, had stopped by the gate to watch them. The tremendous perlino stallion bobbed his head restlessly, eager to get back to work.
That afternoon, Meredith, Charlotte, Courtney, and Lily took Skip, Nellie, and London out on a trail ride through the gorgeous English countryside. Catherine and Gwen, who were left behind, took advantage of the number of high-level dressage horses at the show to go and watch some training sessions, and investigate new training methods.
The next day was low-level dressage, which Meredith and Lily went to watch parts of. Afterwards, Lily begged her mother to let her enter the Kids Dressage class next year- she'd be 8, after all, and Courtney had told her that she could start showing when she turned 8. Charlotte and Gwen spent the day doing basic dressage routines with Casa, Pippa, Nellie, and Skip.
The second day of the competition dawned hazy and humid, with the scent of rain in the air. This was the biggest day of the competition for the Mystic Seaside Stables team, since Casa, Pippa, London, and Skip were all competing. Even Gwen, who normally was never awake until she'd had a cup of intense coffee and an apple, was up bright and early. The Intermediate Kür class started at 9:00, so they had no time to waste. Courtney, the dressage expert, came out to do some last-minute critique on Charlotte and Gwen's routines. Since Meredith would be performing later in the day, she came out and stood by the arena gate with Courtney. As Charlotte and Pippa trotted around the ring, Courtney called out advice.
"Charlotte! You have got to stop fiddling with the reins! This isn't show jumping!" Pippa bobbed her head nervously as she executed a perfect flying change in the middle of the arena.
"Why is Charlotte so nervous?" Meredith whispered to Courtney. "She's usually never like this."
"I think she's just tired. She and Gwen stayed up late last night trying to clear the smoke out of their tent."
"Smoke?"
"Yeah. Apparently there were some frozen grapes in the cooler, and Charlotte put them in the microwave to thaw them out. I'm sure you've heard of what happens when you put grapes in the microwave, right?"
"You get plasma... I've heard. I can see why Charlotte never pursued a career as a chef," Meredith mused, chuckling to herself.
"Gwen told me there's a big black spot on the top of the microwave now," Courtney giggled.
"Wait... why did they have a microwave in their tent?"
"Don't ask. Apparently they rigged up some fancy cable going to the trailer, so they have a microwave, a lamp, and who knows what else. Those two should never be left alone unsupervised."
"Have you hear about what happened to me and Catherine last night?" Meredith asked, giggling at the memory. Charlotte and Pippa had come over to the gate to see what all the laughing was about. "I had just looked out to see if the lights were still on in the other two tents, and I saw a weird glow coming from behind a tree, so I walked over there, and Gwen was standing there with her flashlight, making animal noises and trying to creep out the gang from Blue Spruce Stables- their tents are right behind ours."
"Hey, you guys," Charlotte called from inside the arena. "You realize our class starts in ten minutes, right? I sure hope you have Skip all tacked up."
"Chill, Charlotte!" Courtney exclaimed. "Gwen has Casa and Skip over by the dressage field. We'd better head over there now."

Casa and Gwen's performance went surprisingly well, and after a long wait, it was finally Charlotte's turn. She sat nervously on the gray tobiano mare. As the first few notes of "Carol Of The Bells" sounded, Pippa launched herself into the arena, already dancing.
