Description

alas friends! i have completed a mecha! maybe for kicks i'll make a poll to see which mecha i should complete next ;J

here's the colored version:[link]

oddly, i have little words to say after many hours of work... but i can say this, i won't be doing nearly as much detail in the future XD... well... maybe.

people have asked me why i do so much detail. the answer is simple, i do enough detail for 1/100 (7.5 in) or even 1/60 (1 ft tall.) this way when i sculpt this guy into a kit i don't have go back and figure out what new details i have to do; cause they're already done.

this guy posed several challenges for me -(i can hear you laugh, shhh,) the right toe was challenging cause of how it's tapered and slanted. infact i had to study Hajime Katokis' Wing Zero customs' feet to see how he dealt with such a challenge. the solution was to give the outlines closest to the viewer a slight bend.

the next challenge was the forward-facing right thigh, and i had to remember to wrap some of the shapes on the side of the thigh to the front. luckily, the "inside" of the side was designed accurately, so i didn't have to change the design. and with eastern mecha theory, what exists on the front, must exist on the sides, whether it's rotated, scaled, or different-but-similar.

one minor note, this version has the missile packs on it's shoulders. the suit has "hard points" on the shoulders and shirt for attaching weapons, boosters, or even extra fuel tanks; etc. sorry i don't have a model number yet for this guy; you know like gundam: rx-178 gundam mkII.) another option is the re-enforced knees; (shown.)

Wicked-cool! This is more of a hard-core MSV type of Gundam, that screams Five Star Stories!

I must get you to do a piece for me one day!

welllll, it's sort of an onomatopoeia. the "vol" part complements the various "V" shapes, like the forehead, and the "aire" works cause it's mostly a flight suit. so it's slightly reminiscent to Volture; which is another name i was considering, but i didn't quite like it.

i knew that Voltaire was nothing remotely close to what i made, but i wanted the name for my own selfish purposes ;D
hehehe, i knew i was gonna hear something about it at some point XD

Some designs don't need a number. They stand alone, unclassifiable.
Which in itself is a CLASS! HUZZAH!

I've watched as you developed this model for some time. I can honestly say I am impressed with how it turned out.

an excellent question.

i suppose gundam 0083 was the catalyst. without it i never would have made the series this guy is from (Brim Star.)

but it's true from came from about a month ago when i was listening to Joe Satrionis' "Ceremony" song from the Crystal planet album. to be precise, on time 1:58 JS shreds which created the image (in my head) of this mecha doing a fast paced dog fight. in my head, it was closer looking the "Zeta Gundams'" Gabthley ([link] ), but in black and with a big gun.
