I have a tendency to make my pieces look like 3d models for some reason. Or, at least, I did. I hope I'm getting away from that a bit more now. Not that 3d models are bad, of course, but they're not always entirely realistic. I still like this gal too, though. Anyway, thanks for the comment, and I'm glad you liked it.

That is really beautiful... i really love the mood it set... its dream-like and enchanted almost.. what tools in photoshop did you use to make the fog/mist the way you did? that is gorgeous! the fog is my favorite part about the picture.

Hey, thanks for the +fav. The way that I make mist is using a brush. I made the brush using a photo that I'd taken of a cloudy sky. So, it's actually one of those really wispy cirrus clouds made into a brush after playing around with the contrast and inverting the colors on the photo. I really like how it turns out, too - I'm with you on the whole fog thing. Thanks!

I will never understand why this one has so little comments, not to mention favourites. I've always admired this style of painting, and as always, you show your expertise in bringing the user's eye to a focal point, drawing attention straight away.

My girlfriend and I were shaking our heads and admiring the incredible detail here.. This quality of work is what I hope to produce at the end of my school term for my portfolio.. Absolutely stunning.

I don't know what words to choose if I were to give even anything close to the comment you deserve u.u; but... the picture is just phenomenal to begin with. It's great to see that the light on her skin actually reflects the tones of her surroundings rather than some mysterious white light that's like it hasn't even had to go through the trees and anything else; can't say why though, because I really don't know. Just a thought that popped in my head. Her hair color is really nice against the greens, too. I especially like how she's going for the lights (?). Even better with the description. -shudder- I'd hate to be wandering around in such a beautiful setting and end up..well, whatever would have happened to her. I did have some other things to blabber, but, I've already forgotten them o.o; Anyway, major kudos to you and kutgw!

slshimerdla In reply to o0Acyd0o [2004-06-11 04:18:40 +0000 UTC]

Aww, thank you so much! The lights (will o' the wisps) are actually creatures that lead unknowing travellers off into marshes or swamps and eventually to their doom. When seen from far off, they're supposed to look something like lanterns. At this point in this poor girl's wanderings, though, she's already "spellbound" by them and in some mighty deep trouble. But then maybe her Prince Charming comes and sweeps her off her feet and carries her away to safety - you never really know.

Thanks for the wonderful comment!

Woah, nice! You put so much detail!

The fog is very cool, as is the grass and...oh, reeds? hehe I was just thinking 'hey, don't they usually grow in water?' and lo! there's actually water there if I looked (maybe add some sparkly reflections off the water?) I also like the trees and all that moss hanging off the branches. Annnd I like the transparent part of her dress

She definitely looks bewitched

Thanks! I thought about some sparklies on the water, but I didn't want to detract from the sparklies in the air. Still, perhaps. Thanks for the suggestion, and I'm so glad you liked it and took the time to check out all those elements of it!

preciousthings In reply to slshimerdla [2004-06-10 11:18:44 +0000 UTC]

Mm, perhaps if it was sparkly, the water would be kinda distracting.

And no problem - there's lots to look at And I still missed the water on my first look. Oh well, you reward those who pay attention to the details

where does this voice come from. something i cannot see is talking to me. what is it. where are you. Who are you. so she wandered into the forest following this mysterious voice. small green lights appeared in front of her. they were everywhere. some of them surrounded her, some of them, one could say danced in front of her. she could not but look at those dancing lights. she lost consciousness. when she awaked, all the small green lights were still surrounding her. but there was one small light lying upon the ground. so those lights wanted her to help the, apparently wounded (or whatever you will call it) she pressed that one close to her heart. the wounded small green light began to fly again.

i like the idea, a young woman following few lights into the darkness. do you know stephen king's tommyknockers? furthermore i like the moody atmosphere. well done.

Thank you! I like the haze too, but I've had a few people tell me it needs more contrast. I was actually going for less contrast to enhance that misty look, but ah well. I'll figure it all out one of these days. So glad you liked it, thanks!

Lookin good! Haven't seena anything from you for a while. ^_^ Glad to see you still about. This one is loking really nice, I think the hair could use a bit more blending into the fog. Everything is working so well color wise, but because her hair is red, its really standing out right now, kinda ruining the realism. By the way, I got the print of "Faceless Strangers of Stone" A bit dark, but ooks great! Hung it up where I can see it when I come home. ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

slshimerdla In reply to EmmaEsme [2004-06-09 08:45:20 +0000 UTC]

I definitely agree with the hair blending into the fog a bit more. It does seem to be standing out. I tried to desaturate the hair some, but it's pretty red on your monitor, I guess? I definitely wasn't necessarily going for a completely 100% natural haircolor with that, though. But I didn't want it TOO red, either. Perhaps I'll play around with it a bit before putting the finishing touches on the print.

Thanks a ton for the suggestions, and I'm so glad that the print of Faceless Strangers of Stone turned out fairly well!
